“Is that why you're in such a hurry Princess…”
He asked with a smile as I just kept mute.
“Mmm, well you're in luck, you can join mine”
“I decline”
Just then the bushes ruffled
“Knox…..we've been looking for you”
A male voice echoed, as I looked around. We had been surrounded by rouge wolves. We were in such a questionable position, but they didn't bat an eyelid. It was like this sort of thing was a routine for Knox.
“Zeus….I want to introduce my latest recruit. Scarlett, she is part of the family and should be treated as such.
My eyes opened in astonishment. I just declined the offer, why did he go ahead to recruit me in the pack.
“Escort her back to the cave, I was just ending my rounds for the night”
He said as he finally got off me. I was too dazed to say a word as I was escorted even deeper into the bushes.
The cave was bigger than I expected. And the rouge wolves had more people than I imagined, there was even a child there.
When she came she was greeted by stares, as everyone looked at her like she had seen a ghost. She must look scary covered in mud and blood.
“This is Scarlett, and the leader had personally handpicked her to be part of us. Be kind to her”
Zeus said as I slowly waved at everyone there who still didn't react. They didn't have so much of a curious look again, but they were still horrified by my outlook.
There was a particular set of eyes that didn't look at her with any form of curiosity. Just plain hostility.
“Amiya, help her get cleaned up please”
Zeus said as the pair of eyes rose up. She had dark red hair which was rare for a wolf. Her eyes were dark and sharp. She was roaming them, it was like she was trying to figure out who I was and why I was there by finding some kind of clue from my body.
“Follow me”
Her voice was empty, but it was obvious, she didn't like me…or at least she didn't want me there.
There were tents by the cave, and she pointed out one to me.
“There is a stream behind here, you can go clean up, I'll get your clothes for you to change up”
She turned her back once she was done telling me how to go through with cleaning up. I expected some sort of a follow up question, but it never came.
“Thank you”
I muttered back as I wandered off to the stream.
The cold water relaxed my tensed bones as I submerged myself into the water. I needed to wash off everything about the canine clan. That was my past, I needed to keep it at that.
I felt free, finally. I was in control of my life.
…….
“Why is she here Zeus?”
Amiya’s voice was soft and steady as she sat near the fire, looking through it.
The silence was deafening, as Zeus only turned his eyes to her. He didn't have an answer to give her.
“Something is off about that girl…”
Anita said as she faced Zeus. He felt it too.
It was not in a bad way, but she was just different. Her aura, her eyes. Something was definitely different about the girl.
“Do you think he likes her?”
She bent her head as she muttered this question. Zeus didn't have the heart to tell her the uncomfortable position he found them in. He just let out a sad smile.
The silence was enough for her as she rose up.
“Don't forget to turn the fire out”
With that she walked back to her tent. Zeus' longing eyes followed her as a sad smile plastered on his face.
She met Scarlett sitting on a rock gazing into the sky. It was like the rest of the world faded into the background.
As much as Amiya hated to admit, she was extremely pretty. She was one of the wolves she had ever come across. Her emerald eyes did nothing but highlight the beauty. She was the first wolf she had come across with such interesting eyes. It was weird.
I turned back to see Amiya staring at me as I let out a soft smile which was not returned.
“You'll be sharing a tent with me…. tonight”
She made sure she added the last part as I nodded my head.
“I hear that the northern Kingdom of the wolves have different colours of light that shines only at night time”
I said as I stared at the sky
“It was originally called the wolves rainbows, but when the wolves were divided into the northern and southern part, it was renamed the northern lights”
Amiya's eyes glowed as she stared at the sky with me
“Your eyes look like the northern lights Amiya”
I wasn't trying to kiss up to her, but whenever she looked at the sky, it glowed, as it isn't so deep. It reminded me of ten lights I heard about when I was a child.
I could feel her holding her breath for a second before releasing it and going back to her expressionless face.
“Good night”
She murmured as she entered her tent. I wasn't planning to stay here for a second night in the first place. But I didn't think of where else I would go. All I knew was that I was going to pass the lights on my way, whether I was going to base there or not, depending on how the lights shone.
…..
Ryan's POV
I was getting frustrated with the search, as every boat I searched for was fruitless.
My veins popped in anger as I almost screamed when I searched the last boat and it proved futile.
Had she really run away, had she really discovered my intention for her.
Why couldn't he find that little slut, how good was she in hiding. My head seemed like it was about to explode.
