I ran down the corridor, my heart was beating fast, my cloak flapping behind me. The walls of the castle were cold and silent, the torches flickering like nervous flames. I pushed open the infirmary door.

"How is he?" I gasped.

The healer looked up, her eyes grim. "Ugarh is barely breathing. Azanlin’s condition is worse. The poison is spreading."
