Chapter 3

Mia

Cold flushes down my spine as I lift my gaze towards the direction of the voice, sweat bathing me.

I could see a woman in a white robe, white hair, a staff and her appearance was like a goddess because she was glistening under the moonlight.

She was cat walking towards me and I mustered up strength to stand.

"Who are you?" I questioned with a heavy breath while wincing from the pains all over my body.

"The priestess of the Riverdale pack and the one to welcome you home" she replied politely and stopped an inch away from me.

"What?" I brawl confused as nothing made sense. Am I dead? No, I can't die.

Panic reeled inside me as I scrolled my eyes around, cold running down my spine.

"Are you the angel of death?"

Silence.

She suddenly went on her knees and gave me a bow. It's the first someone ever bow to me and I felt I was in another universe.

"The prophecy says a saviour would come to us at this hour, through this cave, now we'd be free from the infamous alpha of the north"

What is happening? I was staggering where I stood because of the blood I was losing while I battled to stay awake.

Alpha? Pack? I only heard such in movies and tales I read and they were associated with wolves and...

I lowered my eyes to the wolf before me and then gasped.

"Where am I!" I screamed if that would wake me up from my sleep. Maybe I was dying, that's why I'm hallucinating.

"The wolverine society, chosen one" the white ghost responded as she rose up gently and then smiled at me.

This can't be real, it doesn't exist. I closed my eyes briefly, drew in my breath and then held my bleeding shoulder.

The wolf was leaping around me, wagging its tail and then licked its paws. I need a place to hide.

"I'm barely escaping the guards, if you help me, I'd reward you someday..."

"The people would be excited to see you again, she was right, you're her replica" the white ghost responded, switching my request and almost biting my tongue.

Almost immediately she stamped her staff on the ground. I felt I was in a puzzle like a system game only that this might be a dream.

A wave of wind blew, whirlwind twirl around me and I was pushed aback by an invisible force.

"What's happening?" I screamed trying to hold on to something or I'd be tossed away.

She was inviting the search team with her act which made me more petrified and when she stamped the staff again, I was pulled inside a dark hue.

I tried to gain my balance as my hands flailed in the air, when I did, I realized I was standing on a platform.

This was phenomenal, I didn't even get time to scream.

Harsh fluorescent lights were on me now and I squinted my eyes to avoid the taunting ray.

I couldn't see anything either, my body was heavy. It seemed like a news flash and I kept getting lost in the puzzle.

There was silence in my head not until I detest the awe sound from the lips of people, if I wasn't mistaken.

"Behold, the savior, our alpha has arrived!"

The white ghost voice echoed through what I guess was a hall and a loud cheer was heard which made me fretful.

I struggled to open those eyes and I shuddered at the sight before me.

I was standing in the midst of a thousand crowds mixed with wolves and humans, their eyes brimming with hope.

Their roars were enough to pull down this building and I had to close my ears to avoid bleeding.

What the fuck! I shifted my gaze to the white ghost who was still making the announcement.

Goosebumps held me as my chest tightened. My eyes sank in as I couldn't even make a sound due to shock.

This is so not right, first I met my fiance with another. Somehow, a death case is pinned on me and I found myself here only to be worshipped by some confused colony that I only got to know about their existence.

"Just as the prophecy, she shall save our pack from the infamous alpha of the North! And destroy our enemies"

At her statement, everyone went low, bowing to me like a god. I turned to my heels, intending to start another chase but there were soldiers who also went on their knees, bowing before me.

Please, I'm just a human, I don't want to be eaten, i just want to go home to my baby.

My eyes scrolled around, no one was looking at me in the eyes and I could tell they needed my approval to rise to their feet.

I clenched my fists, my body had turned cold but then what if staying here could guarantee my survival and safety?

I have to live for my child, to save her. I don't know what is going on but one i know is that i need to play my cards well to survive.

But then, who is this infamous alpha?

***

"Arise" I whispered startled if it was real and soon every head began to rise, including the white ghost.

I gasped and covered my mouth, stunned. They were real.

The white ghost was gesturing to me to say something but I was in so much pain that I couldn't roll out another word.

"Get me treated please" I said to her while grunting. She rushed to assist me and out of the blue some doctors appeared to take me out of the hall.

There was no difference between here and the human world. It was as though I was bond to witness wealthy places tonight.

I was brought to the royal clinic, what i'd call it and it looked like a VIP ward. My body was gently placed on the bed by a sturdy man who definitely was gorgeous.

Everyone here seems to be moulded from a different caste and nothing was ugly.

I was being treated carefully, even though it hurts I swallowed the pain.

Everything would be over when it's dawn before miles and his men traces me down here, I would have escaped.

After the treatment, I was given a royal bath which was like heaven and for a moment, I was basking in the wealth I've never experienced before.

My outfit was changed into a befitting night gown and when I was left alone in my assigned room, every scene of earlier came flooding in my memory.

The sudden death of my best friend. Everything is my fault.

I need to see my daughter, what has become my fate outside this walls, am I really in a different world? Far from the worries of this life?

And Durex, I just hope he is arrested and punished.

There were so many questions I needed to ask but no one would be willing to answer them.

My thoughts were distracted when the white ghost of earlier appeared with a scroll.

I weakly stared at her and exhaled.

She hasn't explained anything to me yet as all she refers to me was that I was their savior.

"Alpha mia, the infamous alpha sent a message...I think it must have reached his ears that we found you" she began handing over the scroll to me.

I only stared at the scroll wistfully and said;

"Is there a way I can communicate outside here, I have a daughter who needs me and..."

"There's no way, you can't leave here either because you must fulfill your duty" she cuts in emotionlessly yet serious and I got depressed.
