Chapter 4

Mia

"She's ill and needs money for her bone marrow surgery...if I could just take a peek at her and make her know I'm alive" I wailed panting heavily and the white ghost kissed her teeth.

Her eyes narrows at me as though she was calculating something. Then she moved to sit with me on the bed.

"On one condition"

That was fast and I thinned my lips, anxious to know about her condition.

"What?" I curiously spilled with a risen hope.

"You meet with the infamous alpha and agree to his terms, I'd be able to save your daughter"

My eyes widens, she could save my daughter and that's a relief but I didn't get too hopeful, everything still seems like a lie.

I swallowed hard, I don't know how their meetings and ruling works here but then I was willing to accept for the safety of my daughter.

"Okay" I responded dryly as hope lights up in my eyes. I intended to climb the bed now but then she said;

"Good, then get ready alpha, you're meeting him tonight, he wants to negotiate"

"The infamous alpha wants to negotiate?" I yelled trying to maintain a composure. Why is everything happening in one night?

She nodded and moved towards the walk-in closet to bring an outfit for me.

"You're not used to politics child and I'd be your guide, you can punish me later for being disrespectful but she made me promise I make you fulfill destiny"

I jumped limply from the bed to meet her, still trying to access her words. I haven't even healed up yet.

I glanced at my shoulder and realized I wasn't in pain anymore which was bizzare. I was all healed up.

I keep getting surprised in a queer way. She read my instinct and then let out a sided smile.

"Who is she?" I asked, more jinxed as from my observation, this 'she' in question made me the heir and this white ghost is just following her order.

She faced me properly with a dress.

"We don't have much time, the infamous alpha hates to be kept waiting"

This white ghost keeps refusing my questions and switching topics.

"At least this infamous alpha has a name, can I get a name at least so that when he eats me, I can tell your god who did it"

She only let out a cocky smile and said;

"Sometimes, you can't change fate, you're bound to meet"

***

I cleared my throat, my heart skipped a beat as I couldn't breath in the ball gown I was forced to wear.

I was driving to a hotel in a luxurious car when I was thinking they'd use a carriage and they have phones but I couldn't access them.

I was thinking everything here would be outdated like the medieval era.

Now, I'm staring at a large door which heaven knows what's hidden behind it.

The white ghost was beside me with two bodyguards behind me. I had no idea what to say or do when I meet him but I have a bad feeling about this.

The door rolled open and I beheld a lounge and no way, it can't be him. My blood dried up from my vein as my face grew pale.

I widened my eyes, I could see miles sitting at the roundtable with two elder from a distance.

A glass of champagne in his hand which he twirl. His stern, serious face, lowers on the table.

He was breathtaking and dangerous.

His eyes were on something that looks like a tablet and when he shifted those eyes to the door, I turned around, panicking and not knowing what to do but cuss my life.

What? Miles is a werewolf and the dreaded infamous alpha of the North?

"Are you alright Alpha?" The white ghost question with a curious gaze. No I'm not. There was no way out and if he finds me, he'd expose I'm a fraud and murderer.

Or still murder me in front of them and no one can stop him.

"How much did he pay you to catch me! You said you were helping but you trick me, now I'm going to die" I brawl in between my teeth and she looked confused.

She placed her hands on my shoulder blades and told me to breath slowly but I shrugged her hands away.

"Don't tell me to calm down! I'm innocent please, I swear I didn't kill her" i cried holding her hands and begging her to take me away from here.

The two bodyguards were startled as they tried to come close to me but I yelled at them to stand back.

The white ghost had to close the door just so we wouldn't draw the attention of miles and then she pulled me to a corner.

"I don't know what's wrong but we had a deal, speak to him first, the lives of a thousand is in your hands and consider your daughter a part of them"

"I'd protect you, I promise you, he won't hurt you"

Those were her lines to me and they weren't registering in my head.

I was speechless as she speaks, losing my breath. This ghost is pushing me to my death. I closed my eyes briefly.

Miles shouldn't be here, he lost his sister and if he is here, it means he knows I am the one but nevertheless, i'd approach him base on her words.

"Get me a mask" i finally spoke with a serious gaze at her and she heaves a soft sigh.

Again I appeared at the door with a mask and this time in a grand manner even when my heart was in my throat.

It got opened and I catwalked towards him, he didn't even raise his head a bit to look at me, he shouldn't.

I sat opposite him, with the white ghost beside me. My finger tips had turned cold and I was vibrating.

"You must be done with dramas you put back there" that was his first statement in his cold tone that sent me quivering.

He lift his head to look at me and for a moment, I forgot how to breath because my heart was flustered by his presence.

"How do I announce my return without a little drama?" I replied using a high pitch tone just so my voice would be different.

I was uncomfortable where I sat and grabbed a fork like i'd stab him with it.

He scoffed in a sarcastic tone, his eyes dragged me from head to toe.

"I was expecting the alpha to be..."

"A man because you believe a woman can't rule?" I cut in really nervous and he licked his lower lip while leaning his face forward.

He intended to say a word when I pressed on;

"I was expecting the infamous alpha to be older"

He kissed his teeth and then gulped the wine in his glass cup. The elders were speechless and so was the white ghost as it seems we'd be bantering with ourselves.

"I'm not here to be friendly alpha, let's get straight to the point" he muttered as though he was in a rush.

After his statement, the elder by his right hand side dropped a file on the table.

His eyes were heavy on me and it was like he was everywhere. He knows it's me even in this mask that only reveals my eyes and lips.

I took it with trembling hands that it fell and the white wolf had to pick it up for me.

"It's a marriage contract" she whispers in a surprise tone and I widened my eyes and threw my gaze at miles.

"What! Isn't this about a land dispute and who should dominate over another!" I yelled forgetting to use my fake voice.

He casually drank his wine like the king he depicts, crossed his legs and then lowered his eyes at me, his lips curved upward.

For the first time, I saw a smile on his lips and he was dangerously enticing.

"I changed my mind" he ran his fingers through his perfectly ruffled hair and said;

"I want you, alpha mia"

He sounded like the devil ready to drag me to hell and I'm not signing this contract.

"But I don't want you miles, can't I reject him or something? I read it in books, you can reject a wolf" I brawl shifting my gaze at the white ghost to do something.

He suddenly began to whistle, relaxed and twirling the cup in his hand as there was silence.

"It's your fate alpha mia, you have to marry him" she sadly announces and I tried to breath.

Screw fate, no one is to be trusted.

"He is going to kill me" I whispered to her almost crying.

"Then it only means you sacrificed yourself to save us all, we'd make a statue of you as your remembrance" she whispers back and I was baffled that my mouth dropped.

"Are you scared princess?" Miles voice suddenly cut in and I tried not to look at him.

Even the mask on me was heavy, I swallowed hard, flailing my hands in the air.

"What exactly do you want miles, I can give you the pack if this is all about power but I'm not marrying you"

I tried arranging the mask on my face but it ended up falling off. Damn it, I'm so clumsy.

Now he could see me clearly but he wasn't moved and only smirked. This is so embarrassing.

"Even if I take your pack, you're included in it, stop wasting my time alpha Mia and sign the contract, I'm still mourning my loss"

It was as though he was reminding me that I murdered his sister. Why is no one doing anything?

The white ghost placed a pen in my hand, her eyes glint at me, beckoning on me to do just that.

Her reaction is killing me like she's with him on this one.

"What do I gain if I marry you?" I suddenly asked lost in his intense gaze.

He was speechless as the second elder dropped an iPad on the table and my eyes met a video of my daughter surrounded by gunmen.

My father was on his knees panting and tied. My heart thuds.

"Miles!" I cried as tears had brewed up in my eyes, it was replaced by anger and loathe for him.

The white ghost says she'd protect me but she was just speechless and sober.

"I believe that's a yes princess"

His smile broadens, a reminder that just an order would have them dead in seconds.

I quickly signed the contract in rage.

"Now let them go, it's me you want!" I ordered panting heavily.

"Get up" he ordered, I hesitated for a moment but the white ghost held my hand and nodded but I was furious with her.

Why am I an alpha when I can't make decisions by myself? Screw the prophecy. If he tries harming my daughter, he'd be my first kill.
