"Sorry what?" I asked, snapping out of my horny dazed state at once.
Instead of replying, he let go of me, reached forward and turned of the screen across him.
My jaw dropped. He really was on a video call. How didn't I...
I stopped short in my thoughts. A second or two passed and his hand was still on the screen.
He had balled his fist and his shoulders were tense.
I watched him turn to face me and then I gulped. I was in trouble.
"Mr. King I..."
He grabbed my collar and yanked me towards him.
I let out a soft gasp.
"What did you think you were doing?"
"What? I wasn't--- it was an..."
He yanked me closer so that I could feel the pulse of his breath on my face.
"Are you that horny?"
My jaw dropped, "horny? But it was an..."
"I can see you are."
"I'm not some horny bitch!" I snapped back.
"On drugs then?" He propped and I could nearly restrain my anger.
"I told you it was an accident, there was a sudden turn."
"You had better behave." He said before forcibly letting go of my collar.
"Mr. King, we're here." The driver announced.
"Good," was all the jerk said before stepping out. Reluctantly, I followed suit.
We stepped out of the car and got into the venue.
Jaw dropped, I took everything my eyes landed on at a go.
Not that I've never been to some sort of fancy place before, but then this was--- just over the top I guess.
Everything about Hearthrob's always over the top.
I turned my head to fill my eyes with the several directors and their smartly dressed secretaries then I all of a sudden, doubled over.
Shit! Right now?
I thought of holding it in but then, it would be a disaster if I didn't take myself to the ladies room as quickly as possible.
I turned to the jerk. "Mr. King, if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to excuse myself."
From the corners of my eyes, I saw him open his mouth to say something but then I was gone.
Damn my stupid, full bladder. Now I was the pretty, smartly dressed secretary, dancing on my toes and rushing to the direction pointed out to me as the ladies room.
I let out a sigh of relief as I turned off the faucet. Emptying the bladder really feels soo good.
I stepped out and started to walk in the direction, I think I came from. It didn't take that long, I soon realized that I was lost.
Tired and exhausted, I took to the end of the stair way and sat down.
I eyed the bottled water that sat beside me. Without thinking, I grabbed it, opened it and gulped it's contents down.
It was only after gulping it down that I realized that someone was actually beside me.
"Oh!" I gasped. "Sorry, I didn't know it was yours."
"It's okay."
"I really didn't know it was yours, you weren't here when I came so I..."
"It's..."
"I'll buy you another one, I..."
This time the man reached out and patted my hands.
"It's just a bottle water. You seem quite thirsty, would you like to have another one?"
"Yes!" I blurted out.
He reached to his left and brought out another bottle.
I don't remember thanking him before gulping the entire contents down.
I brought the can down from my lips to see that the man was staring at me.
I smiled awkwardly before saying a 'thank you'.
I dropped the can down and smiled again at him, he looked quite elderly.
He kept giving me that awkward look before finally talking.
"You must be tired as I am, aren't you?"
Numbly, I nodded. I wasn't just tired, I was frustrated, furious, desperate and burning in rage.
I bit down on my lips, trying to hold it in but then I just couldn't.
I swirled around to face the man.
"You don't know how frustrated I feel right now! I got fired this morning!"
He opened his mouth to say something but I didn't let him.
"All I did was come late but he would'nt even let me explain, he just fired me! But guess what?"
He raised his brows in a subtle way.
"Well, I got hired again, somehow I don't even know. And it's horrible cause I started off on a wrong foot with my boss and now I'm stuck with him." I said and stopped to catch my breath.
I raised my eyes to see him staring at me.
"Oh! You don't mind me saying all these do you? Wait! You don't work in my branch, I mean, the headquarters do you?"
He slightly shook his head and without giving him a chance to speak, I went on.
"It's a good thing you don't work in my branch or you'll have to face my boss and he's terrific. He's corky, arrogant, doesn't hesitate to fire anyone and I..."
I stopped when my phone buzzed.
It was an unknown number but I picked it anyway.
I put it to my ears and froze. It was the jerk on the other side.
Hearing him yell got me staggering to my feet. "I-I-I'll be there right now." I stammered before turning to face the man.
"Sorry, I got to go, It's my boss." I said and turned to leave then stopped.
"Do you know the way to the main hall?"
Calmy, he pointed to the left and I muttered a 'thank you' before rushing off.
I staggered out of a hall door, bumping into something in the process.
I flinched in pain as I rubbed my temple.
"Shelly?" I heard a voice call and I jerked my head up.
I stared at him and blinked. For a moment I just stood there staring at him.
What was this I was seeing? I rubbed at my eyes and looked again.
The resemblance was there but now I could clearly see the difference.
"L-li-liam?" I blurted out.
"Shelly." He called back in response, confirming it was really him.
A gasp escaped my lips. Oh for goodness sake, this has to be a dream.
He moved closer and smoothed out my temples.
"Are you okay?" He asked concerned but I backed away.
"Y-y-you have a twinn don't you?" I asked and watched him dip his hands in his pocket.
"I do."
"Why didn't you tell me!"
"Sorry what?"
"Forget about that, what are you doing here?"
"I wanted to ask you the same thing Shelly."
"I-I..." I stopped and ran my eyes over him. A new fear enveloped me. Why was he dressed in work clothes?
"You--- you work here?"
He smiled and nodded.
"It's so good to see you Shelly although you haven't told me why you're here."
"Me? I--- well I--- I just started working at Heartthrob, you see I umm, I got hired as a secretary."
"Interesting. Who's secretary? Is it..." He asked and my eyes dilated.
Who's secretary am I? I'm Lewis King's secretary and he's horrific.
My hand flew to my mouth.
"I'm cooked!"
"What?"
"He's totally going to kill me!"
"Who will?"
"My boss!" I yelled before racing past him.
Panting, I burst into the hall full with bosses, directors and their secretaries.
Trying to comport myself, I strolled in calmy and took a glass of wine from a waiter's tray.
"Oh no! They've started already." I muttered under my breath while searching frantically for Lewis.
I turned to the nearest person beside me and asked.
"Excuse me, have you seen Lewis King?"
The man turned to face me and a gasp flew from my lips.
Now this wasn't funny. What is this? An opera, a TV show?
"Shelly?" Kelvin called out but all I could do was stare back dumbfounded.
What on earth is my boyfriend doing here?
"Please don't tell me you work here too."
"Too? He asked looking confused. "I'm sorry Shelly, I was actually going to tell you. What about you? You work here as well?"
Exasperated, I shut my eyes, ignoring his question.
I'm so tired right now and all I need is to know where the jerk is so I opened my mouth to ask but got distracted by some sudden loud applause.
Startled, I flung my eyelids open and stared around, confused.
"W-wh-what's happening?" I asked Kelvin.
In response, he turned my face to the podium and pointed.
"Look, the Chairman is coming up to give a speech."
Following his finger, my eyes landed on the man that had just ascended the podium.
Not only did my eyes dilate, my jaw dropped as well.
I was so shocked that the glass in my hands slipped and fell but I just stood there.
If this was a drama, the director really needs to stop this nonsense.
But then this wasn't a drama, it's real and I'm so doomed.
