"Shelly?" Kelvin's voice rung in my ears, jerking me out of my frozen state.
I gasped and turned around to face him.
"Are you okay? You dropped your glass."
"What?" I asked and looked back up.
I gulped as I looked him over again. This must be a joke.
"Umm Kelvin?" I called, my voice shaking noticeably.
"Hmm?"
"W-wh-who's that? That man up there w-who's he?"
I asked and watched him let out a chuckle. "That's Henry King, he's the Chairman of Heartthrob and he's...
He stopped when my hand flew to my mouth to suppress my gasp.
"Are you serious?" I asked and he smiled.
"I've never been more serious. Come," he said then extended his arm out to me.
I looked down at it confused then raised my eyes back to his face with furrowed brows.
"Let's go greet him."
My eyes dilated. "Sorry what?" I asked but he gripped my arm and began dragging me along with him to the front.
I shook my head. No! No! No! The last thing I wanted to do was to go meet the man that I ranted away to. Ughhh! That'll be so embarrassing.
How's this even possible? He didn't look anything like he was the Chairman. I so hate this company!
We were nearing the front where the Chairman stood and I knew if I didn't stop walking now it was gonna be another embarrassing moment.
"Kelvin stop!" I called out alarmed but he just kept walking.
I bit down on my lips and called out, "Kelvin! I said stop!" but he still kept walking.
My voice was obviously loud cause it started to attract stares from people around us.
I looked up and saw that we were really nearing the chairman's table.
Determined to stop this embarrassing moment, I halted in my tracks making Kelvin stop as well.
He swirled around to face me. "What are you doing Shelly, come on."
"I said I don't want to go, let go of my hand!"
"Stop this now. Look, there's something I want to show you, someone I want you to meet." He said then turned and started to pull me along.
"Desperate to save my face after the embarrassment from earlier today, I resisted and started to tug at my hand but Kelvin was keen on me following him."
"Stop this Shelly, fuck! What's your deal?" He asked and glanced around. "People are watching okay, so just fucking come along." He said and started to pull me.
Exasperated, I began to scream. "No! No! Let go of me Kelvin! Let go!"
Instead of loosening his grip, he tightened it the more. "What's wrong with you?"
Staring around, I saw that people had gathered and were staring.
The embarrassment and nasty scene I was trying to avoid was happening now, in another way.
I grew desperate and anxious. All I wanted was to get away from here.
Furious, I struggled, we struggled, like we were in a fight then finally I freed my hand from his grip.
Because of the force used in freeing myself, I staggered backwards and started to descend to the floor but then---- someone caught and gripped me by the shoulders.
I froze. My heart was beating so loudly. For goodness sake I almost fell! In front of all this people!
I closed my eyes and took in big breaths. Who knows who the knight in shining armor that caught me before I hit the floor is.
flinging my eyes open, I spun around on my feet to check.
A frown quickly formed on my lips and my half open eyes widened.
Obviously what I was expecting to see wasn't what I saw.
In a reflex action, I screamed and jerked my hand away.
This time my buttocks was destined to meet the ground as I staggered backwards again, my arms waving in the air, trying to find balance.
Oh no! Now I was going to be totally disgraced. With all this people and so many cell phones with working cameras....
Oh my gosh! I don't even want to think about it!!!
Just when I thought I was going to steel way back and land hard on the floor, Lewis King caught my hand, again.
Like time was frozen, one of my hand in his and the other dangling below I thought to myself.
What is this? Are we dancers on a stage?
From my awkward position and with my head bent backwards, I looked around and saw that all eyes were on us, were on me!
"Lewis?" I called his name and effortlessly he pulled me up.
Ignoring the several stares he questioned me. "Where have you been?"
"To the ladies room then I got lost trying to find my way here." I said and waited for the scolding but surprisingly he just stared down at me.
"Follow me," Was all he said then he started to walk away. I made to follow him but then Kelvin grabbed my arm and stopped me.
"Where're you going?"
"I'm Mr.king's secretary and he needs me now."
"But..."
"Kelvin!" Lewis cut in sharply and he had no other option than to let go of my hand.
I sighed in relief and stared at Lewis's broad back and shoulders, I had this strange gratitude towards him.
He had saved me from falling in front of all those people and in a way rescued me from Kelvin and meeting the chairman.
Smiling, I rushed up to him.
"Mr. King I know you may not believe me but I really lost my way. I mean look at this place, it's so huge."
Silence
"Mr. King?"
"What?"
"Umm you just called Kelvin by his name, do you usually know the names of most of your employees?"
"Kevin's my brother," he said before stopping at a door
"Sorry what?" I asked and ended up bumped into his back cause he had stopped walking.
He turned to face me, "I said Kevin's my brother, do you have a problem with that?"
I brought my hand to my mouth then whispered, "b-bu-but you said you have a twin."
"I have a twin and a brother as well, how does this bother you?"
"No it doesn't," I lied as I shook my head.
How could this even be possible? Lewis, Liam and Kelvin, are all brothers.
So I was dating Lewis's brother all along then slept with Liam his twin and then confused Lewis my boss for Liam.
I clutched my head as a sudden headache hit me.
What if Kelvin finds out that I cheated on him with his brother Liam? From our encounter in the morning, Lewis already knows that I slept with his twin but then what happens when he finds out I'm dating Kelvin.
I sighed and shook my head again. I might as well lose my mind.
"Mr. King, where exactly are we heading to?"
He shoved his hands into his pockets, turned around then pushed the door open before speaking over his shoulder.
"We're going to meet my father."
I nodded and followed him in.
I stopped halfway when I saw the man seated at the head of the table.
Confused and not understanding what was happening, I gripped Lewis by one of his fingers.
"T-th-the chairman's your father?"
"Yes, so behave," he said then went to take a seat.
Dreading to go nearer, I just stood there.
"Shelly come take a seat." The chairman called to me and my eyes widened. He even remembered my name.
Slowly, I walked to the table and took a seat.
"Good day Mr King," I greeted.
"Yes Shelly, I hope you're alright?"
"Me? Oh I'm totally fine!" I said and shrank in my seat as Lewis eyed me suspiciously.
"How strange father that you know her."
"Yes, Shelly and I met today somewhere around the stairway, what a nice girl she is, isn't that right Shelly."
"Y-yes sir, of course" I said and smiled nervously.
Oh shit, I'm doomed. I badmouthed his son to his face. If only I had just kept my big mouth shut.
Lewis poured himself a drink. "Let's talk about more serious matters father. My trip to London and the Mergers and Acquisition were quite successful."
Totally ignoring his son, the chairman probed me
"So Shelly, before I climbed up, I happened to see something going on."
"Oh! Umm s-something like what?"
"They said you had a fight with your boyfriend."
"Oh I..."
"I didn't expect that my son would actually date right now not to talk of a woman like you. He's indeed keeping to his word."
I blinked. How on earth did he know that Kevin's my boyfriend.
Feeling awkward, I just smiled then said, "I guess so."
He smiled then nodded. "You must be patient with Lewis, he doesn't always date that often especially women like you."
From beside me, Lewis spat out the drink in his mouth while I turned to face the chairman.
"Sir you said what?"
