Rhett’s POV

The second the words left my mouth I wanted to claw them back.

Fuck.

What the hell was I thinking, branding her like that? Like she belonged to me?

She was Micah’s little sister. She was forbidden territory. Dangerous territory. And yet I couldn’t stop myself.

Straight guilt punched me in the gut. If she asked me anything, if she pressed me right then, I’d cave. I’d give myself away completely. So I did the only thing I could–I pulled back.
