I despise the fact that Lily won't let go of my arm. She's been following me everywhere tonight, and no matter how I try to pull away or create some distance between us, she just tightens her grip and stays glued to my side. Her fingers are wrapped around my bicep like she's afraid I'll disappear if she lets go for even a second.

Every time I try to step away or move toward a different part of the room, she follows me like a shadow. When I stop to talk to someone, she's right ...
