‘Where is Selena?’

I could count the number of times the question had repeated in my head like a chant as I raced through the dense forest, my wolf, Nyx, jumping over fallen logs of wood and bending between trees with a speed I hadn’t used in years.

The sun was high up in the sky now, its golden rays finding ways to illuminate through the leaves, but I could care less about that. My heart was pounding loudly in my chest, not from exhaustion but from fear.
