Chapter 10

"What are you doing? Get him out of here now!"

The employees exchanged glances and quickly turned their gaze away from him. They recently examined the documents, which bore the lawyer's signature and were certified by him. And based on what they had heard, they knew that if they supported the Count, they would be kicked out of the mansion with him.

"You... you"

Alicia, who was quietly watching, parted her lips open.

"Eject the Count and his child politely."

When Alicia's voice faded, a few strong servants moved. The Count did not realize his current situation until he was forced to leave.

"Al... Alicia! You're a jerk!"

"Don't worry, father. You will receive a minimum pension."

Her voice was cold and devoid of any warmth.

"It won't be enough, but it will be enough to make a living and have a roof over your head." Regardless, I am still your daughter..."

“Alicia!”

Ignoring the Count's shrill voice, Alicia descended the stairwell slowly. Patricia, on the other hand, was perplexed by the situation.

Alicia came to a halt in front of her.

Patricia's voice shook.

"Uwuu... sister..."

Alicia gave a cold laugh.

"Sister... sister..."

As coldness pierced the air, the smile, which bloomed like white flowers, wilted.

"Who gave you permission to refer to me as sister?"

Patricia's big eyes were welling up with tears. She knelt on the floor, crying and rubbing her hands together.

"Please, Lady Alicia, let me stay here." I... I don't want to return to the orphanage. I'm willing to do anything! Please do not evict me! I will do whatever you ask. "What do you think...?"

Alicia looked down at Patricia, emotionless. Perhaps this child, like all children, was innocent. She hasn't accomplished anything. No, she hasn't, at least not yet.

Both she and Alicia were born as a result of their parents' selfishness, but regardless...

Patricia was an illegitimate child, not Alicia's fault.

No, her father was the one who harmed her.

He was self-centered.

As a result, Alicia decided to accept Patricia as best she could, as if she were her own blood. She was completely innocent in all of this and was the victim of selfish decisions, but...

"You look great in that dress."

Patricia looked down at her dress in response to Alicia's unexpected remark. It was silk, her first piece of opulent clothing. It felt like heaven, a reminder that she had escaped her difficult circumstances. Previously, she wore clothes that were rough and patchy. That was her usual response.

"It's the only dress my mother made for me, and it means a lot to me." You're wearing it now."

Patricia realized something was wrong only then.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I had no idea... it was the only dress my father had given me..."

"The only thing you'll ever take away from me is this dress."

Patricia's red eyes followed Alicia. It, too, was filled with sorrow.

"Aside from that, you will not receive anything from me." If you want something, you must work for it."

Patricia's lips trembled.

“Why…”

Patricia realized what she meant.

Alicia had it all, everything had fallen into her lap since birth, so why does she have nothing? They had the same father, but why was Alicia a noble spirit and she a commoner and an illegitimate child?

It was unjust.

She could have gotten it all.

So, what was it that Alicia and her mother took away from her?

Why?

"You're not going back to the orphanage." I seriously doubt it. You'll be raised by your father. And you two can live together for the rest of your lives, just as you hope."

Patricia's face became distorted.

Soon after, she cast an unnatural and despicable glance at Alicia.

Alicia smiled bitterly despite her hostility. She had previously acknowledged Patricia and attempted to share with her what she owed. But in the end, she was the one accused of robbing her of everything.

Perhaps it was difficult to change the past, but Patricia's hatred for her remained unchanged.

"Send them away."
