The dream came first — heat, shadows, and the sound of wolves howling under a blood-red moon.

I ran through an endless forest, my bare feet sinking into damp soil. A heartbeat thundered in my ears — mine, loud and wild. My veins burned. My body felt too small for what was moving inside me.

When I woke, I was drenched in sweat.

The room was dark except for the pale light spilling through the window. My breath came fast and uneven, my skin hot as if fire lived ...
