Derick's words sounded funny to me, he believes Dad never cared for him, which is absurd.

The earlier he accepts that Macy is my mate and belongs to me, the better it is for him,

I hope he gets over whatever he feels, which I know is not easy but is the right thing to do.

I decided to take Macy out for a walk that evening, she had been in the house for long, and I believed a walk would be nice, and it might help bring us closer.
