My heart stopped beating for a few seconds. I blinked hard, trying to make sense of everything.

“D… don’t tell me you’re my brother,” I whispered, my voice trembling as I asked Maddox.

He smirked—cold and merciless. 

Without answering me, he wrapped an arm around Maya, my wife, and helped her walk. Just like that, they slid into the car and drove away.
