Nyra’s POV

The light that pried through the curtains was thin filtered through a gray morning sky. For a moment, I couldn’t tell if I was awake or still trapped in the echo of last night, the chanting voices, the sharp sting of words hurled like stones, the actual stones and the humiliation that clung to my skin like ash.
