Chapter 69: Kade’s POV

For a while, none of us moved. The only sound came from the fire crackling in the hearth and the faint whistle of wind against the cabin walls.

The tea still steamed where it sat before us, pale amber, fragrant and comforting. I wasn’t sure if I could trust it, or her. But the warmth of the fire seeped slowly into my fingers, and the hunger in my gut made the decision for me.
