Nyra beat Axel to the door.

I watched it happen from across the room, one second Axel was rising to his feet, the next Nyra moved, a blur of speed that still caught me off guard even after everything we’d just learned. She reached the door, pulled it open… right as Riven’s hand hovered mid-air.

He froze.

Watching a fully grown warrior, one who’d seen decades of bloodshed, stand slack-jawed on a doorstep was… admittedly satisfying.
