Kade’s POV

I could not sleep.

Even when the night faded my mind refused to rest. I’d been walking since the ceremony, following her scent, hoping it wouldn’t vanish before I found her but the more I searched, the weaker it got.

Every step I took, the guilt grew heavier. I kept replaying what happened at the ceremony. Her face when she fell to her knees.
