LILITH’S POV

The sun was sinking, painting the whole sky in shades of orange and red.

The light hit the pond in front of me just right, making the water look like a reflection of fireworks.

It should’ve been beautiful, stuff like this always excited me after all. But right now, all it did was make my chest ache.

I hugged my knees tighter to myself, resting my chin there as tears slipped down my cheeks.

“I miss you, Mum. Dad.” My voice cracked against the empty air.
