LILITH’S POV

I sat on the edge of Reed’s bed, my hands clenched tightly in my lap, the soft hums from outside filled the silence between us.

I held my breath, patiently, waiting for him to respond.

Reed sat across from me, elbows resting on his knees, eyes dark and unreadable.

He’d been quiet for a long time. The air between us felt heavy, like if either of us spoke too soon, the truth might shatter the room.
