“Lilith? Lilith…” Kayden’s voice came through, tense and worried, and I could hear Serenity in the background, murmuring something I didn’t quite catch. “Where are you?”

“Kayden, hold on,” I said, trying to keep my voice low and steady. “Are you with Serenity right now? Where are you two?”

“You should be the one answering that question right now, Lilith. I came looking for you but you were nowhere to be found. I was so worried.”
