REED'S POV

My heart sank to the depths of my stomach.

The old fallen log where Lilith must have been sitting was surrounded by signs of violence—Scratches, broken branches scattered across the ground, the ground torn up by struggling feet and bodies.

And there, just at the corner, splashed across the log was—blood.

"No." The word came out as barely a whisper. "No, no, no—"

I stumbled forward in a daze. This had to be a lie, what I was seeing couldn't be true.
