I remembered times when Raven compared me to Zerra, always in her favor. That's why his sudden comparison now left me frozen, even as he touched my cheek.

I stared at him, barely blinking. He seemed troubled by what he'd just said.

"It really felt right with you, and I don't know why," he said, putting his other hand on my other cheek. "Maybe you can tell me why."

He was breathing heavily as he tilted his head and moved closer, making me nervous.
