Harmony's POV
“Have you hacked it?” I asked a college student on the other end of the line. Five seconds passed before she responded.
“Finally! It's done. I've breached their security system, so you can get inside.” I cleared my throat in response. I was currently at a private property in Antipolo, accessible only to VIPs. “Using the GPS attached to your earring, I can track your direction and any opponents, so you won't have any problems with the enemies you encounter.” She was a fourth-year college student majoring in Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, making her knowledgeable about technology.
“Okay, I get it.” That was my only reply, and I clearly heard her sigh, which I ignored. I took the pistol and placed it on my back, along with the stiletto dagger I planned to use on the target.
Before exiting the car, I took a deep breath and released it. Once I was out, I carefully walked to avoid attracting the guards' attention.
“There's a guard heading your way.” I paused at her warning.
“How many are there?”
“Just one.” I nodded, even though she couldn't see me.
After a few seconds, I felt footsteps approaching, so I prepared myself. When the guard spotted me, he immediately aimed his gun, but I reacted quickly. Before he could pull the trigger, my fist struck his stomach, and I twisted his head, causing him to collapse lifelessly. I quickly dragged his body and placed it in the dark part of the pillar.
“Are there any others coming?”
“As of now, no.” I nodded again and continued walking. “Oh, shit! I didn't notice it sooner!”
“What? What's happening, Melliza?” I asked, furrowing my brow, but I only heard a series of curses in response.
“Damn it! They're surrounding you, Savina!” I suddenly became alert and looked up to see twenty armed men ready to shoot me. I immediately rolled and took cover behind a parked car a few meters away from my previous position.
Out of breath, I raised my gun and exchanged gunfire with them. Narrowing my eyes, I targeted a man hiding in the bushes and hit him in the back of the head. I took cover as they rained bullets on me, biting my lower lip and returning fire. As I shot, I hit the one closest to me in the heart, then took cover again by the car's side, cocking my gun.
I exchanged fire with them again while they hid to avoid my bullets. I seized the opportunity, ran towards the lifeless enemy, and immediately took his shotgun. With the shotgun in hand, I fired it continuously, hitting ten armed men simultaneously, causing them to fall where they stood.
I rolled towards a pillar as five guards rushed and shot at me. When I saw they were getting close, I raised my gun and fired, killing them instantly. I smirked as only three remained, then stepped out of my hiding place.
I advanced towards them, and as I ran, they continued to fire bullets, but I easily dodged them with a wide grin.
Oh, come on! Can't you move any faster?
“At that level, you will be no match for a high-level assassin like me,” I whispered with pleasure while still dodging their bullets. I frowned when I noticed a bullet heading my way, so I immediately somersaulted and breathed a sigh of relief as I avoided the bullet that would have hit my forehead.
When I got close, I pulled my gun from my side and shot the one on the right while grabbing the other by the neck. The last one stepped back, not expecting my swift moves.
I slowly turned to him, and he uttered, “Y-you're P-phantom D-Death?” His eyes widened, and when I turned my gaze to the man I was strangling, surprise was also evident in his eyes, which made my smile grow wider.
“Yes, I am.” After saying that, I tightened my grip on his neck, causing him to lose consciousness when I released him.
The remaining man's face became even more fearful when our eyes met. He tried to run, even though he was still holding his gun. I wanted to laugh because he chose to run rather than use his gun on me; maybe he knew he was facing death.
I raised my gun and shot him in the left foot, then in the right, and finally in the head. Shaking my head, I walked towards and into the mansion.
“Melliza? Are you still there?” I asked on the other line, checking to ensure the call hadn't ended.
“Yes, Savina? I'm still here—just playing COD.” I rolled my eyes at her last statement. I thought something bad had happened to her, but it turned out she was just gaming.
“Anyway, can you track the target?”
“Sure. The target is currently on—wait, what?” My brow furrowed, as I could hear surprise in her voice.
“Is there a problem, Melliza?”
“How strange. The target hasn't left his spot since I tracked him earlier.” She said, sounding confused, which made me suspicious as well.
I fully entered the mansion. “Where is the target, anyway?” I tucked my gun behind me and pulled out the stiletto dagger, gripping it tightly as I went up the stairs.
“He's still in his office, Savina. After you go up the stairs, there's a room on the side. Enter it, and the crowded hallway will open up to you. Just go straight, and when you see two rooms facing each other, go into the one on the right—that's the office.” I nodded, and followed her instructions.
When I reached the office, I raised an eyebrow upon hearing a groan from inside. I entered, and a dark room greeted me. I felt around the door for the light switch, and when I turned it on, I was shocked by what I saw.
The target was lying on the floor covered in blood, with a cut on his neck. That's why his position hadn't changed—because he was in this state.
I see, but who did it?
I approached him and slowly sat him up. “Who did this to you? Answer me,” I said seriously, and with great effort, he spoke.
“H-help m-me...” I sighed because instead of answering my question, he said something else entirely.
Was he expecting me to come here just to help him? He couldn't be crazy enough to think that I would save him after killing all of his guards, could he?
Annoyed, I grabbed the collar of his shirt. “I said, who the heck did this to you?!” I exclaimed. "How dare that insolent intruder interfere with my mission!"
Whoever it is, I will find them and make sure that the scum intruder disappears from this world without a single trace!
“P-please h-have m-mercy o-on m-me, d-don't k-kill m-me. S-spare m-my l-life e-even j-just n-now, please!” Annoyed, I released his collar and spun the stiletto dagger between my fingers before turning my gaze to him.
“Spare your life, you say? Sorry,” I paused, putting my lips close to his ear, “but not really, because the word ‘mercy’ is not in Phantom Death's vocabulary.” After saying that, I thrust my stiletto dagger into his chest until he was completely lifeless.
Even though my hands were stained with blood, I took a button from my pocket. “The target was successfully eliminated.” After saying that, I left the area.
