Chapter 2

Minnie

"Oh my god! This is the worst ending a book could ever have." I muttered under my breath as I snapped the heavy cover shut. "That was so tragic."

How could a main character suffer that much only to end up dying? And fuck her twin sister. How could a woman be the cause of her own sister's misery?

And Kearn? If he was real and I had the opportunity to stand before him, I'd strangle him with my bare hands. I don't care if he was seven feet like the book described. Five feet four latina women are always known to be feared by everyone, regardless of how tall and powerful you could be anyway.

I folded my arms, glancing at the book and how absolutely worn out it looked. It looked like something straight out of a magical school. When I had been walking around the library, looking for the perfect fantasy novel, I'd seen it in a box, sealed off with a warning.

"Highly dangerous item. Do not touch."

I had scoffed, as a naturally curious person. Later at night, I had somehow convinced my best friend, Ada, to go with me. We snuck into the library and after a while of getting past the cameras and lasers, I finally grabbed the ten-ounces book.

Now, it laid before me, already finished in one night because the story was too interesting for me to stay away from.

I checked the time on my phone and saw that I stayed up too late. My phone chimed and a reminder popped up.

"I almost forgot. A lunar eclipse is going to happen minutes from now." After a few scrolls through the Internet, my eyes were almost in the back of my head. I had seen enough conspiracy theories videos and religious men and women trying to prove the eclipse meant the second coming of some spiritual figure.

The eclipse didn't mean there wouldn't be classes the next morning. I needed to prepare.

I splashed water on my face and looked at the mirror. Dark circled blue eyes and frizzy brown hair stared back at me.

The book described Lianna as the most beautiful woman in the pack with her elegant long and slender legs, skin as fair as an angel's and very long golden hair with tiny, siren shaped blue eyes. Her lips were as red as blood and her lashes could blow anyone away. However, her twin sister who was in charge of taking care of her would often mask her beauty in rags, and ugly hairstyles. She would starve Lianna and wear ugly makeup on her.

If only Lianna wasn't such a weak character.

"I, Lianna Pyre, reject you, Alpha Kearn as my mate," I mocked, waving my palm like a politician at my reflection.

I was still laughing at my failed attempt at acting when I saw a bright light in the mirror. I looked behind me, but there was no light. Just darkness and silence.

The light grew brighter and suddenly, I was yanked into it. It was a strange sensation, like my soul was being pulled out of my body. I screamed, but the sound was swallowed by the white abyss around me. The force was too strong to fight. It felt like I was falling through a bottomless pit, with no end in sight.

My body slammed into something solid and I felt the sharpness of pain. The light receded and darkness took over. It was as if the universe had gone blind, leaving me in the cold embrace of nothingness.

Slowly, my senses returned, but my eyesight remained a blur. I could make out shapes, but the world was a canvas smudged by an angry artist.

As the darkness cleared, I realized the sky was dark, the moon having a tint of red hue to it. The cold air on my skin made me realize I was outside and laying on the floor. I sat up immediately and looked around.

"How did I get here?" I was met with the outline of tall trees and darkness, except for the moon's lighting.

"Hello?" I yelled but immediately regretted it. A pang of headache made me pause.

I rose and began to walk, hoping to find the road as soon as I could. I was still disoriented but it was better than laying out there in the woods. After about an hour of walking, exhausted and thirsty, I heard the rush of water and ran to it.

The day was starting, so as the light shone on the waters, something shocking caught my eyes.

I looked different. My brown hair had now become long thick locks of golden hair, my face more slender and skin paler.

"That's weird." It didn't look like me at all.

I glanced at myself and indeed, my outfit didn't look like me either. I was wearing a dress that would most likely be found in the 11th century. I washed my face many times but it didn't seem like a dream. I was in the body of...I paused. The description in the book.

No. No. That's impossible. Long blonde hair, fair skin, blue siren shaped eyes, red lips, and when I stood and realized I was taller, my heart dropped. Am I in the story? I bursted out laughing. No, I'm just crazy. Right?

I needed to find people and call the school. I must be going crazy. Finally, I found an abandoned house that looked like the occupiers traveled for a while. Thankfully, they had clean clothes and since I had bathed in the stream, I simply wore one of their clean clothes and trimmed my hair. By the time I was done, I looked like I belonged in a fairytale.

After a while, I saw a light from a building. Walking towards it, something made me pause. The architecture of the building was definitely different. It was like something out of a storybook. Tall and towering, a castle-like building stared back at me. A large wall of fence surrounded it and lamps were used as a source of light. Was this a set for a movie? Or was it a theatre?

That was better. I would ask anyone for a phone and know where I was.

However, I was flabbergasted when I heard a guard say to me.

"Luna, you're...you're back. What happened to you?"

Uh?
