Chapter 7

He initially thought she was a slave, but her skin and the silk on her body showed she was an important person, so he had to bridle his tongue. He assumed she was in a rush to cross the sea, it was too dangerous for a little lady to be alone by this time, no matter how much of a rush she was in

“Thank you, but I'm alright”

She said with a smile to convince him

“But it's so dark out, the king shouldn't be too long and we'll set sail before you know it”

He tried persuading her again.

“I bet she want to meet the king first, she wants to charm him first”

One of the women murmured as she looked condescendingly at Scarlett.

She was taken back for a moment seeing how pretty she was. She had long dark hair and a pair of dark green eyes. Her skin was pale and it looked soft. Her jealousy as well as hate grew with every passing moment.

“Foolish girl, you think the king would look at you twice with such dirty skin, you won't stand a chance”

She was probably a slave that escaped, maybe her owner saw grace in her.

Another woman added as she looked obviously pissed.

Scarlett smiled, as she nodded then she met their eyes

“Then I'm thankful, it would give you the time to show him your undeniable charm”

Her tone was laced with sarcasm as every worker jabbed them and their faces turned pale white.

With that she got off the boat. She didn't have the time to be bantering with women on a boat.

Walking further away, she walked into the forest. She could just camp here for the meantime and when Ryan stops his search, she could come out from hiding and board a boat.

The forest was dark, with only the light of the moon to guard her footsteps, she continued walking forward, going deeper into the bushes, she didn't look back, she just walked.

The trees were tall and over shadowed the moon's glow as it became even harder to see, but there was something eerie about where she was. The hairs of her neck stood as she had a subconscious feeling that she was being watched.

“Who are you…?”

Dear readers, there is going to be a change in how the book is being narrated. Please bear with me. Thank you. Author ZaraH

Scarlett's POV

My heart raced as I unconsciously gripped my gown in fear. This was definitely not the plan. I could feel something circle around me, as I gathered all my courage to turn my back. I was met with just darkness.

“Look the other way princess”

The deep voice sent me into a spiral as I immediately started running again, this time I wasn't running forward, neither was I running backwards. I had no direction, I just ran into the bushes as I tried to escape from the voice behind.

It didn't take long before I saw a huge dark furred wolf in front of me. I heaved in fear, exhaustion and shock. It was no surprise he caught up to me. I might be a wolf with a special ability, but apart from that, I'm just a normal untrained wolf. I couldn't run that fast and I subconsciously knew that I was no match for him

Immediately he jumped on me as he held me down with his claws making me gasp in utter fear.

He had deep blue eyes that glittered under the moon

“Slow down princess, you'll injure yourself”

He said as he leaned closer to me.

He smirked as he slowly changed back to his human form. His clothes were ripped showing his scarred skin. He was fit, his body looked chiseled, but there were scar lines all over. I could tell he got into trouble a lot.

I couldn't move, I just stared at him as his eyes roamed my skin.

“You have been staring at me for quite a while now…..do you like what you see”

He asked as he tried to flirt. I unconsciously rolled my eyes at the poor attempt.

“Who are you, and what do you want from me?”

I asked as he finally looked at me.

“Don't you think you're too brave”

I was dazed and confused…brave?

“You walked into my territory, and you're questioning who I was…tch, there are little wolves I've come across with such arrogance”

He said as he looked like he was thinking, but there was a smirk stuck to his face.

Territory….what wolf marks his territory in the middle of the forest.

“See princess, you're lucky I found you first, if one of my friends would have beat me to it…. your pretty face would have been non existent now”

Friends….my eyes widened in realization.

I've heard about this particular set of wolves. It was once rumored in the castle that one of the maids was kidnapped by a rogue wolf, but not just any rogue. Knox.

Ryan ran into him once, it turned out that on the day he ran into him, she had a terrible fever. When he came back, he was covered in scratches and blood, he was in such a pitiful state. He had to bed rest for a day, and immediately she was well enough to talk, she used her powers to heal his injuries, sending her back into a coma. He was not the one to mess with.

“It seems like you know who I am, so an introduction is not necessary now”

His hands started trailing my skin as he got to the edge of my breasts and I flinched.

“But I don't know who you are princess….or what you're running from”

His eyes met mine once more. He was good looking, he just looked rough, but somehow he made it work. He was just arrogant.

Raising my chin up, my face was close to his

“Who are you?”

“Scarlett”

I answered with a sharp tone, I couldn't show a moment of weakness. I knew that I was facing a lawless creature. I knew that I was facing danger.

“What park are you from Scarlett”

“I don't have one”

His face scrunched, I could tell he didn't believe me, but I didn't mind. I was telling the truth.

“A princess like you don't have a park…..or did you run away from yours..”

My eyes faltered, as he smiled. He was right. He guessed it.
