“Can I ask you a question?” Caleb asked quietly, his voice soft but tense, like he was afraid I might walk out again.

I didn’t face him. “What question do you have to ask?”

He hesitated for a moment. “I know you should be resting… you look exhausted, Kaia. But I’ve been dying to know—where have you been all this while? I searched everywhere for you. Every border, every pack house, every forest trail. I didn’t sleep for days.” His jaw tightened. ...
