Kaia’s POV

The forest was eerily quiet except for the crunch of dried leaves beneath my feet. My heartbeat was still racing from the shock of being surrounded. There were at least six of them, maybe more, their glowing yellow eyes fixed on me like I was prey. My wolf stirred uneasily inside me, but fear kept her from surfacing.
