The silence in the room was suffocating.

Not the normal kind—the kind that presses against your ears until your thoughts start screaming. Every eye was on me. The maids. The guards at the door. Selena, standing there with tears glistening in her eyes like she was the victim.

And Caleb.

That was the worst part.

Caleb didn’t shout. He didn’t accuse me. He didn’t defend me either.
