What did you just say?

Ava's p.o.v “It has really started raining,I thought it would only drizzle for a short while,” he said while looking through the mirror.

“Unfortunately you were wrong, will we be safe in this car?” I asked.

“Ava do you have any better suggestions? Haha,” he looked over at me while laughing.

“Why is it easy for you to call me Ava right now but back then you insisted on calling me kitty?” I asked him.

“Isn't it obvious! I only want to make that useless boyfriend of yours jealous…it gives me so much joy,” he replied with a smirk.

“Okay that's enough, please stop calling him names…he has a name just if I have to remind you,” I glared at him.

“Calm down sweetie,I don't want to see you in such a mood,if i stop calling him names will bring a smile on your face then I'm dropping it with immediate effect,” he touched my chin with his index and made me turn.

Our eyes locked and I think my heart skipped a beat after getting lost in his emerald eye balls.

He lifted his hand and slowly touched my cheek then started rubbing it with his thumb while his eyes were still stuck on me.

“Ava I'm sorry for everything,” he said in his husky voice.

I think I was starting to suffocate in here because it seemed difficult to catch my breathe.

“Ava,I never meant to hurt you in any way,I cross my heart…that's why I kept it a secret from you because I wanted you to have a normal life,” he said but this time, our nose tips were almost touching.

“I still love you Ava and will always do that's for sure…I don't mind if you're sleeping with Liam at the moment because if this is how to repay me for lying to you then I deserve it,” he kissed my nose tip and my eyes shut immediately.

“Herman please, don't find ways of defending your disloyalty because that is not open for any discussion right now,” I said but it came out more like a whisper.

“Ava,I'm not going to stop fighting for you,” he replied while cupping my face and my cheeks started heating up.

“Let go of me Herman,” I pushed him back to his seat and focused my eyes outside on the rain pouring down from the heavens.

There was silence in the car and I stole a glance at him but he was busy fidgeting with the phone trying to get some signal.

“Did you move with your charger?” He asked.

“Oh yeah,I think I have it,lemme check and see,” I reached for my bag from the back seat and opened it but unfortunately,I didn't carry it.

“It's okay Ava,I know I'm going to get some signal soon or later,” he lifted his phone again.

“I hate it when I can't be of help,” I leaned back in frustration.

“Worry not,it's not your fault that we got a flat tyre anyway,” he gave me a side eye.

“Here take my blazer,I see you have started shivering,” he removed his blazer and wrapped it around my shoulders.

“No, I don't need it,thank you though,” I pushed it away from my shoulders.

“Come on don't be stubborn, that chiffon top is not warming you enough,” he wrapped his blazer around my shoulders again and I gave in because truly I had started feeling cold.

“Okay, thank you,” I thanked him but I looked anywhere else but not his eyes.

“Alvin told me about your childhood with your dad,” I uttered.

“What did you say?” His expressions automatically changed.

“I'm sorry to bring it up in such a manner,” I replied.

“No Ava,what did you just say?” He asked.

“I said,Alvin told me about your childhood with your dad,” I said it again while looking at him.

“How much do you know? I mean, what did that stupid kid tell you?” He asked.

“Calm down,he just told me the truth that you were unable to tell me as your wife moreover all those years we spent together,” I replied.

“Ava,there are some things that need to stay unsaid because they're not worth our time so my dad is not worth talking about,” he said but his jaws were hard out of anger.

“But as your wife,at least you would have told me about him and I think he's so bad or evil as you say because you're now working for him,” I replied.

“Ava,like I said there are certain things that we shouldn't talk about…I don't want to involve you anywhere around him,” he replied.

“But you're working with him, ain't you?” I asked again.

“Ava,will you drop the topic already! And Alvin is going to face it rough because he had no business telling you about our relationship with our dad,” he said.

“No,don't be too hard on him…I swear I was the one who pushed him to,” I replied.

“Hmmm we shall see about that because he will need to tell me whether he was hired in that company to start spilling shit about the family, stupid boy,” he blurted.

“Just forgive him please,he's a good boy” I begged him.

“Ava,that is done…he is going to pay for it no doubt about that,” he replied.

“What are you going to do to him? Please don't go violent,” I stared at him.

“Me and him are none of your business so I don't see why you're acting like you care,” he scoffed.

“Okay whatever,do whatever you wish…I care less anyways,” I arrogantly replied.

I focused back outside and it's like the rain was stopping.

“Ava,I have gotten some some bars, thank God,” he smiled while showing me his phone.

“Quickly dial your mechanic's number before it's too late,” I tapped him.

He did as I said and luckily he picked up his phone.

“Hey, are you busy at the moment?” Herman asked him.

“Alright good, let me share my live location right away,” he added.

“Ava the good news is that he said he can spare some time right now and come over,” he said with a smile.

“Oh okay that's nice then,” I smiled back.

“Damn, these guys that we were supposed to meet up at the site are calling, I think they have already arrived,” he showed me his caller ID.

“Yes sir,oh okay that's good…I'm sorry to keep you guys waiting but we got a flat tire on the way so we are still stuck on the road…no,the mechanic is on his way here so kindly give us more thirty minutes please…okay then, thanks for your patience,” he then hung up.

“Ava, these guys reached the site like twenty minutes back,” he said.
