Amelia staggered backward, her hand flying to her cheek as shock replaced the cruel amusement in her green eyes. The red mark of my palm bloomed across her pale skin, and for a moment, we both just stared at each other in stunned silence.

Then her shock melted into rage.

"You little bitch!" she shrieked, lunging toward me with her claws extended.
