The loud bang rattled the walls, shaking the chandelier above us. I barely had time to turn my head before the front door flew open, crashing against the wall with a deafening crack. Adrian was on his feet before I could process what was happening.

“Stay here,” he ordered before disappearing from the kitchen.

“Like hell,” I muttered defiantly and hurriedly followed behind him.
