CHAPTER FIVE

I swallowed a gulp as I realized what was going on here. He had not fought to save me, he just thought that those men were going to kill him and so he killed them first.

Lowering my head, I tried to hide the look in my eyes. I had no idea why, but knowing that he didn't realise he was saving me made me feel a bit saved.

"Answer my question, damn it! You are saying that those guards weren't trying to kill me" he demanded to know.

I shuddered when I heard his voice. This man had an aura that was frightening. It was obvious that he commanded power wherever he went, he wasn't a simple person at all, and I had to be careful, or else he would kill me.

Just a snap of my neck, and I would be gone after all.

"Yes.....those guards were chasing me ...someone was trying to kill me..."

The vampire seemed to be thinking of something. Suddenly, he grabbed his head and shook his head.

"Are you okay?" I rushed to him, but he didn't let me touch me .

He just pushed me away, "I....was being chased in the woods, I got injured badly and I was hallucinating, I thought they were there to kill me," he said to me.

No wonder he had looked at me like that! He had a killing intent in his eyes because he had been operating on pure survival back then.

I cleared my throat and pointed at his chest, "who was the person who was trying to kill you?" I asked him.

"They really stabbed you deeply, if I did not think fast, you would be dead now," I said to him.

He turned to me, a sharp look in his eyes. "Who tried to kill you? They were more than five men trying to kill just you. I guess you've offended someone?" He had a mocking look on his face.

I scoffed and looked away, not only did he not thank me for saving his life, he was also mocking me.

"I think we should both keep our stories to ourselves," I said to him.

He nodded his head, "yes, let's do just that," he said.

There was an awkward silence between us for a few seconds before he cleared his throat.

He walked over to me, and he sniffed me. Thinking he was going to bite my neck again, I placed a hand on his chest and stopped him.

"Do you like touching me so much? You were touching me when I woke up just now," he smirked at me as he said this.

I quickly removed my hand from his chest and looked away. My face was burning red in embarrassment. I was just trying to save his life, how dare he make it sound like I was trying to take advantage of him?

"A wolf," he spat out,with some disdain in his voice.

"I heard they were some packs around here, it seems like you were right. Why do you all like living in the woods, anyway?" He asked me in a derogatory gone.

I was angry when I heard this. I had heard that vampires looked down on wolves, it seemed that was the truth.

Looking up, I sneered at him, "what's wrong with wolves? A wolf just saved your life. Do you think you're all that just because you're a vampire?" I snapped at him.

He glared sharply at me as soon as those words were out of my mouth. Seeing the dangerous look on my face, I realized I had made a mistake.

Before I could react, his hands were wrapped around my neck and he was choking me again, "what did you say?" He asked me, a cold look on his face.

Damn it, why did he like choking me so much?

"Vampire...you bit me! Of course I know you are a vampire! Damn it, you took my blood, and I saved your life, and this is the thanks I get for it?" I asked.

I was really angry!

He let go of me slowly and turned his face away from me, "you saved my life, so I can let you go, but you had better not tell anyone that you met me," he warned me.

"I don't want to recall this meeting ever again either," I muttered under my breath.

"That's good," he said.

My fave paled when I heard his response. Did vampires have such good hearing?

He attempted to walk out of the cave, but I grabbed his arm.

"Where are you going?" I asked him.

"Back to my kingdom of course, the people who tried to kill me must be causing trouble. I have to get there before it's too late," he said.

I shook my head and stood in front of him, "do you know how bad your situation was? You were running a fever a while ago!" I said to him.

"You...." The vampire tried to say something, but he suddenly grabbed his chest in pain.

His face tightened up again and I sighed. "You see? You need to let me use the herbs to treat you some more and then we can ..."

"No!" He snapped at me.

"What?" I looked at him shocked.

"Vincent should be trying to take over the kingdom since he thinks that I am dead. I need to go back and stop him," he said.

"If you attempt to go back in this condition, I assure you you are going to die before you reach your kingdom. You need to let me help you!" I insisted

He shook his head, a determined look on his face.

"No, Vincent...."

"Damn it, who the heck is Vincent? Whoever he is, is defeating him worth your life?" I demanded to know.

My eyes were red with anger and worry. I had gone through so much to save his life,and he just wanted to throw it away like that!

"It's not just my life, it's the life of countless vampires, they need to save them," he said.

He looked into my eyes as he said this, and I sighed when I saw how determined he looked. This person was not going to give up no matter what.

Taking a deep breath, I stared back at him. "Well, what do you want now? You will definitely die if you leave in this condition!" I reminded him .

He suddenly smiled at me, and I shuddered. I had a feeling I was in for some suffering.

"Come with me," he demanded .

"What?!" I yelled. How was I supposed to just go with him? I didn't even know anything about him besides the fact that he was a vampire and that he had a brother who wanted to kill him.

"You can treat me, right? So come with me. The journey is still long. It'd take a few days. As long as you help me get to my pack in one piece, I'll help you take revenge on the person who tried to kill you!"
