I opened my eyes gently. The world tilted, blurry, and my head throbbed like I had just had a hammer fight. I didn’t flinch or move at first, I just lay there, willing to breathe properly. Waiting for my eyes to adjust to the dimly lit room.

Shapes sharpened into those old familiar words, curtains drawn against the light outside. My chest rose and fell with forced breaths. Confusion pressed and the blankets were tucked around my body.
