Claire's Pov

I stood there, still wondering why David Don Carlos ghosted me like that.

I could smell something fishy behind this but I still couldn't figure out what it was.

I couldn't bear it anymore so I walked up to all my friends and notified them about Dave's sudden disappearance.

Their reaction was very strange, I expected them to show surprise but they didn't. Their faces were giving me a different vibe which meant only one thing.

So I confronted them with questions.

“Ciara! Matilda! Eliana you all don't look surprised why? Is this some sort of set up or something? Please tell me!” I yelled eagerly.

“Calm down Claire! Let us explain!” Matilda yelled.

“Go on, I'm listening.” I whispered.

“Claire, don't mind our reaction! It's just that that guy is fond of that! He ghosts people a lot but we think this was due to an emergency because Eliana here told me that she saw him after the call and he was acting very strange. Isn't that true Eliana?” Matilda yelled.

“Yes it's true Claire I was feeling a bit nauseous so I had to go outside the restaurant. When I got there I saw him shivering after ending a call. I wanted to ask him but I hesitated because I hate invasion of privacy and I didn't want to do that to someone!” Eliana explained.

Their facial reactions were giving me different messages so I didn't believe them. I kept confronting them with more questions.

“Honestly, you guys have been my friends for as long as I can remember but I find it hard to believe what you all are saying here! I yelled.

Their reaction suddenly changed this time they frowned at my response.

“Claire there's something you don't know! Guys, I suggest we tell her the truth. You all don't expect us to keep lying to her! She knows we are lying to her!” Ciara suggested her facial expression filled with sincerity.

I wasn't surprised when I heard this because I knew very well that my friends were not being honest with me.

“I knew it! You guys better spill the beans now! I have a quick question before you do so! When you girls brought me here to say you had a surprise for me I guess that guy was the surprise! I don't really trust him. Please, you all should tell me more about him because he's so mysterious. Who exactly is he? And I don't trust mysterious people, and it's worse because that I'm beginning to.” I stammered.

“Beginning to what. Claire? Wait a minute you're beginning to fall for him Wow!” Matilda yelled as she laughed uncontrollably.

I got angry and yelled at her.

“What's funny Matilda! Did I say anything funny here? You girls better be serious and tell me the whole truth!” I snapped.

“Sorry about that Claire! So about David we don't know much about him but based on what we've heard from some reliable sources.” Ciara whispered.

“And what might that be?” I asked her curiously, staring into her blue eyes so I could tell if she was lying.

“He's a philanderer who doesn't stick to one woman! not just that he's a secret drug lord! We also heard he has a secret drug organization!” This is the Little we know!” Ciara yelled and her reaction proved she was telling the truth.

When I heard this, I became disappointed. I began to feel very cold and my body temperature suddenly changed.

Within me, I still couldn't accept these stories as the truth. But I had no choice because David obviously lied to me about everything.

Because the way he disappeared proved that theory.

I was not just disappointed I was literally heartbroken. I couldn't control my emotions again. I just waved at my friends and left the restaurant.

I stopped a cab and headed home on my way home while Inside the cab I saw a familiar guy walking with a girl, with hands crossed over her waist.

I ignored them but the face kept ringing in my head. I pleaded with the cab driver to slow down and he did.

I took a close look. I was shocked it was actually David, and now he was actually kissing the girl passionately.

Seeing this crowned all my suspicions, though I didn't believe what my friends said about him being a drug lord. But now, I had to accept it because if he could do this there are more things he's capable of doing.

I couldn't bear watching this, I whispered to the cab driver.

“Please drive fast. My parents are worried about me right now.”

The driver increased his speed, and suddenly a big van was coming towards us.

I noticed that the driver had lost control of the car, this terrified me because the van was getting close.

“What's wrong sir?” I asked him curiously.

“I don't understand why my car brake is malfunctioning!” He yelled.

Then suddenly the van slammed into our car with force which made our car stumble backwards. It faltered as if struggling to regain balance, stumbling three times before finally it remained balanced on the road.

I wasn't sure if I was still alive, because I lost consciousness, my eyes closing and opening. I had sustained a lot of injuries.

Though I couldn't see the driver, I was pretty. He sustained a lot of injuries.

I want to know if he was alive.

Suddenly, people came out of nowhere and surrounded the cab, though I couldn't see them clearly but I noticed that the view from the windows of the car was covered.

Suddenly my eyes closed, and I drifted out of reality and I became unconscious.

I opened my eyes and found myself in a dark room.

“Am I dead? Oh no! I hope I am not dead! What Am I? Oh no! It can't be! I whispered to myself.

My uncertainty was very obvious because I had no idea where I was? Or what had happened to me.
