Claire's POV
We stared at each other, eye to eye it was like hypnosis in a whole new form, I lost control over my body. What made matters worse was his smile.
It wasn't just charming, it was contagious like a transmittable disease.I wanted to see this whole new world he told me about. Maybe then I'll believe all he's been saying, but where will I begin from?
But the real questions include how do I leave the house, I'm grounded, what excuse do I give to my dad? Would he even listen to me?
“Are you ok Claire?” David whispered, tapping me on the shoulder.
It took me three minutes to reply, I was still hypnotized by him.
“I'm fine Dave, what I am thinking about now is what to tell my dad so he would let me leave the house. I have no idea what excuse I would give him.” I whispered.
Suddenly, I remembered my father’s advice about meeting with my childhood friend Desmond Baggins. I would lie to my dad that I want to go see him, that M's the only way he'd let me go.
Wow, why didn't I think of this earlier? I think I know what to tell my dad so he'd let me go!” I yelled.
“Really how certain are you? You know you're grounded” Dave reminded me.
“That's true but what I am about to tell him, is so pleasing he wouldn't hesitate in letting me go!” I yelled firmly.
He took a deep breath, and replied.
“If you're certain then go tell him we're running out of time I need to be home it's almost evening.”
Ok give me some minutes so I'll go tell him but you have to go wait for me outside my house if my dad sees you he'd know that something’s up and please be careful so he wouldn't see you.” I whispered to him
“I've heard you Claire! He yelled, nodding his head and left my room.
To make sure the coast was clear I had to call my sister whose room was next to mine.
“Hey Violette! I yelled my sister's name but she didn't answer.
“Violette! Violette!” I yelled again.
“Yes big sis!” my little sister replied with a drowsy voice.
“Is dad outside his room?” I asked curiously.
“No he's in his room!” She replied aggressively like someone forced her to answer the question which was very disturbing.
“What's wrong , did I wake you from sleep?” I asked her calmly.
“Yes you did, do you know how hard it was for me to sleep!” have you forgotten that I find it difficult to sleep?” I normally use sleeping pills but mom seized it!” She yelled.
I felt very bad for what I did, I apologized to her and pleaded with her to make sure Dave leaves the house undetected by dad.
She agreed, I was very excited, now I had all the time to prepare, and go meet dad and beg him to let me go see Desmond, my childhood friend.
I took my bath, wore a very enticing gown, sprayed an irresistible perfume and headed to my dad's room.
As I arrived, I took a deep breath and knocked on his door, my heart racing in fear.
I was worried about what he would say if he saw me, but I didn't get any response. I knocked it again and he didn't answer.
The third time I knocked I was so aggressive, so the door almost opened.
“Who's that? Why are they knocking like that? Do you want to destroy it?” My dad asked in a loud voice.
“It's me dad!” I yelled.
“Oh Claire sweetheart I'm coming!” He replied.
After a few minutes, he opened the door and I entered.
“Sweetheart, why are you dressed up? I hope you're not going anywhere, remember you're grounded!” He yelled, his voice very loud. His face was very serious and scary.
I became terrified so I didn't reply to him immediately because his facial expression scared me, and his voice swept me off balance.
“Don't mind my face Claire I know you're here to tell me something straight to the point I'm listening! I won't bite.” He whispered in a calm voice.
“Dad, do you remember Desmond Baggins, my childhood friend?” I asked him curiously.
“Yes of course I can't forget him. What about him? Have you thought about reconnecting him?”
His question made me very excited, it paved way for my request so I replied with a smile.
“Yes dad I really want to reconnect with him, it's been a while! I want to go see him now! I thought about it in my room, and came to the conclusion that I want to get to know him better!” I lied.
He smiled, as he stared at me for minutes without uttering a word he left me wondering.
“Did he buy my lies?” Or maybe he knows the game I'm playing, like a Game player he's playing along? Cause I know my dad very well. He's very smart and sneaky.
And I think I got that from him, nothing is more powerful than genetics.
“I waited there in desperation for his response for more minutes, I couldn't bear it again so I took a deep breath as I was about to speak.
He yelled.
Claire, nice try!” You think you're smart, have you forgotten that I am your father! You can't be too smart! I know you care well! I know what you're playing at!”
“I frowned and yelled negligently.
“What are you talking about dad?”
My dad laughed, hysterically for months making me more confused and replied.
“Wait, what do you take me for Claire! Do you believe I'll buy your lies! How do you expect to believe that you thought about your childhood friend in a space of a few hours! That's clearly tricky. I know you have a hidden agenda, go back to your room Claire!”
I stood there with my hands on my chest, I was about to cry and I was staring at him like a pussy cat that was stabbed with a knife in the heart
He didn't even look into my eyes, because my eyes would hypnotize him into feeling pity.
Claire! Claire! Claire! How many times did I call you name Claire? I won't tell you again! Go to your room!” he yelled at me again.
Please dad I'm not kidding here I mean what I'm saying I really want to see him! I'm begging you dad!” I pleaded with him in a loud voice.
He smiled and whispered.
“It seems you're sincere, well I'll find out won't I know what to do.”
His response made me worried. I just hope he'll let me go. But I know my dad very well he won't just let me go like that alright I'll find out won't I?
