I realized with a sinking feeling. Arachne wanted Elena’s child. Not Elena. The demon wanted the child. But why? Why would she want an unborn child?

This could mean that everything was much worse than we thought. “What does she want with the child?” I demanded.

The dark footman seemed to be happy that it had my attention. It's form shifted, limbs stretching and it's face melted into a mouth that stretched far too wide. Far too inhumane.
