ELENA
"Wait! I'm pregnant!" I yelled the first thing that came to mind.
I waited for the pain of having my throat cut open. But all I felt was the dagger still on my throat. I slowly opened my eyes.
Julian stood there, frozen. When I looked into his eyes, he stepped back. I let out a breath. He let go of the dagger and it fell to the ground loudly.
"What did you just say?" Caleb asked, coming to stand in front of me.
I had lied. “I am pregnant.” I replied quietly.
"Shit! How dare you?" He growled and kicked the object on the floor in front of him.
I felt relief knowing I wouldn't be harmed because of my baby. My imaginary baby saved me.
But then, I had no idea what these dangerous men would do knowing I just lied and destroyed their plans.
"Why are you now just telling us?" Liam grunted. He slammed his hand on the chair. I was not safe.
Julian rubbed the back of his neck. Liam walked to me and grabbed the collar of my shirt.
“Did you know what you just did? How dare you show yourself when you have a child in you? This is our only chance and you ruined it." He gripped my cloth tighter causing me to choke.
I thought he was going to kill me. But, he was pushed away from me.
"Calm down, Caleb. Let's handle this." Ryan stepped forward. He was the one who rescued me from the hands of the Alpha.
Julian looked at me with rage. "We've spent years waiting for this moment and you've ruined it for us. You will be punished for this.” He threatened.
"We should lock her up in the dungeon so she never sees the light of day again,” Liam said.
No, they couldn't lock me up. I would just be trapped all over again.
"Or, we let her be our slave until the next perfect time for the sacrifice, well up until we find a replacement," Caleb added.
"What about you, Ryan? What do you suggest we do to her?" Liam asked.
He stared at me for a while before he answered, "I agree with what Caleb suggested. That would be the perfect punishment for the sin she committed."
I literally just left frying pan and entered fire. Nope, I went to hell. Moon goddess, what exactly do you want with me? What did I do to make my life like this?
"Then, that would be her punishment." Julian said. "Anyone out there?"
A werewolf came out and bowed, not daring to look at them. Julian looked at me. “Take her away from my sight.” He said.
I was untied and locked up in a room with a large bed in the middle and nothing around. I thought the dungeon would be a scary place with stench of dying but I was wrong.
Instead, I was taken to the basement.
I walked to the bed and sat on it. At least I was grateful for that one thing. I wouldn't have to sleep on the floor. My body ached so much and I never realized it. There was nothing I could do but rest since I was locked up here.
I closed my eyes and allowed my body to give in to the tiredness. Before I knew it, I slept off.
I don't know how long I slept but I woke up when I heard the door lock unlock. I jumped up from the bed and quickly adjusted my clothes. Liam walked in, holding a tray of food.
I cowered in fear, reminding myself of how he was violent to me. He closed the door behind him and walked in completely. "I see you're getting relaxed already. I advise that you shouldn't. You should be scared of what is about to happen to you.”
He dropped the tray on the bed and gave me a look before he turned to leave.
If there was one thing I could do to get out of here, it was to get close to one of the Alphas. They would help me get out of here.
I quickly hurried and grabbed his hand. He looked at my hand and then my face.
"Can you help me?" I asked.
He stared at me and I was sure that he was wondering how crazy I was to ask for his help knowing fully well that he wanted me to get punished.
He yanked his hand away from me. "And why do you think I would reply to that?"
"Cause you will have no choice but to."
He faced me completely. "I would have no choice?"
I nodded. I need to be bold and not let my fear get in the way if I want to survive and get myself out of here.
"This ritual is important, right? I can help you with it.” I said.
He laughed. "Really? Unless you want to get rid of that baby somehow. Then go ahead and tell me how you will be of help."
I grew bolder. I stepped closer to him, so close that I felt the warmth of his breath against my face. He didn't step back or say anything.
Instead, he smirked, leaning even closer. I felt something pass between us. It was undeniably strong.
“I think you'll like what I have to say,” I said, lowering my voice and meeting his eyes. “If you help me out, I will find the perfect sacrifice you need for the next ritual.”
As I said those words, something snapped between us and a growl escaped my lips.
He was my mate!
