LIAM'S
I stared at her and couldn't help but laugh inwardly. She had hope in her eyes thinking I would wholly accept her offer. Who does she think I am? Find another sacrifice?
I decided to tease her. "Are you sure I can trust you on that?"
Her eyes brightened as she quickly nodded.
I rolled my tongue and put my hands in my pockets. "But won't you disappear after I let you go? Women can't be trusted especially when they are as desperate as you are."
She quickly shook her head, "You can trust me on this. I won't run away, I promise. If you want, you can put me under your watch." She let out a deep breath and lowered her head. "I just want to give my child a good life but I can't do it as long as I am here."
I scrutinized her from head to toe and burst out in laughter, not able to hold it back anymore. She drew back staring at me with round eyes.
"Are you a fool?" I questioned. "You made us lose something important and you will surely pay for it." My smile was quickly replaced by anger surging through me.
This lady doesn't know what she has done. She didn't know what she had cost me by making me lose this opportunity. No matter what, I need to gain back my powers. Everything was set and we just needed the perfect sacrifice.
The seer told us where we had to go to if we wanted to capture our perfect sacrifice and we went there in wait. She was the one. She fitted perfectly into the description made by the seer. But then, she was pregnant which ruined everything. We can't use a pregnant she-wolf for the ritual. It would be a failed ritual.
I shut my eyes and rolled my neck, trying so hard to control my anger. I would never hurt a woman, let alone one with a child.
I glanced at her one more time before I walked out of the room. I needed to calm myself down. That woman gets on my nerves and it's so frustrating I couldn't make her pay for it. Or probably I could and in the most hurtful way.
I walked into the gym room and met Caleb and Ryan working out. I took fast strides to a punching bag and punched it hard, channeling my powers to it and breaking it off. That wasn't enough to get my anger out. I needed a good fight cause I didn't trust what I would do to anyone if I left here still fuming.
"What about we let go of our anger? We are both angry for the same reason, right?" Caleb suggested, cracking his knuckles. Perfect.
I turned and faced him. "Let's kill each other." I charged towards him, and jumped the rest distance, aiming to punch his face but he jumped away, and my fist went through the air. Without waiting for me to get my stance, he aimed for my ribs, but I caught his fist halfway.
"Not happening this time," I growled and pushed him away with all my strength.
He landed on his feet and charged towards me instead. Before we could deliver our power-filled punch to each other, the door was pushed open, ending our fights.
"The seer is here. She says she has something to tell us." Julian informed.
Whatever it was, I do hope for some good news.
We all went out of the gym and met her waiting in the large meeting area which was just a large space with few chairs.
It was supposed to be the place where the ritual should have taken place.
"I hope you do have some good news for us," Caleb questioned, going to take a seat.
"I heard the ritual wasn't successful cause the sacrifice is pregnant." She stated the obvious and went on, "Well, there is another chance."
Another chance? Now some good news.
"The full moon would appear next week and as long as it is the month of the blood moon, it is significant. But, you will need the same woman as the sacrifice."
That would be a problem. "But she is pregnant. We can't do anything to her as long as she is with a child."
She tsked and shook her head. "Did you confirm that? Are you sure she never said that 'cause she wanted to save herself?"
We all glanced at each other, knowing her questions were smart. We never thought of that.
"I think you all should get this done immediately. You all have not much time. If you don't get your powers back within eighteen months, you will lose it completely and become ordinary men." She warned.
We knew what would happen already. Julian and Caleb would die if they didn't get back their powers while I and Ryan would become wolves for the rest of our lives and we wouldn't be able to transform into men. That's our fate. It's our curse. A curse we would have to bear.
"Can't we get another woman?" Caleb questioned.
"You can, but it would take another ten years to find her. You spent ten years looking for this perfect sacrifice. It might take more even but unfortunately, you won't last for two years. Now that you have her, she has to be the one."
Julian drew out a deep breath and stood up, "Now that we have her, she would be our ticket to getting our powers. Even though she is pregnant, we would wait until she has her baby. We can still wait for another year for the blood moon."
"What would we do with the baby? Wouldn't we be selfish? We would be ripping the child off its mother's love." Ryan questioned.
"We can't be talking about a child who we aren't sure of its existence." I retorted and stood up. "I swear, if that woman lied to us and made us lose our opportunity last night, she would suffer for it horribly." I threatened, rolling my fist into a ball.
"German!" I called out and in no time, the timid-looking man rushed in. One of our loyal servants.
He bowed, "You called for me, my lord."
"Call in the physician!"
