ELENA’S POV

I was still processing my encounter with Arachne when I heard footsteps behind me. My mind immediately went to Stephen. He was back again with yet another trouble.

I swivelled around quickly, my heart rate already spiking. I was ready to attack. I wasn't going to let myself be taken away easily. Ever.

“Oh, goddess, you scared me,” I said, relieved but at the same time, I felt my anger rise.

It was Liam. “It’s just me,” he said, trying to offer me a small smile.
