My head was pounding and my mouth was dry. How could it not be with Maverick’s heated glare on me every second? I know he’s not mad at me. He’s furious with the situation.

“Are you sure you don’t feel weird or pain?” Rex asked.

“No, other than the pain from the needle you stuck in my arm, plus the massive headache.”
