I pulled out a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies from the oven. Thunder clapped ferociously outside the apartment; however, the rain was dying down.

It was late in the afternoon. Maverick had been gone for hours.

“How long could this meeting be?” I asked myself.

I nibbled on my nails. He should have been back by now. It’s an important meeting. One that Alpha Seth and his allies can never find out about.
