“You can’t make it this month?” I asked my aunt Ximena as I paced the bathroom.

“No, the rains ruined the roads. It’ll be nearly impossible for an entire pack to carry their whole lives in these conditions, Odessa.”

I bit my bottom lip. “You can’t stay there either.”
