Chapter Seven

Kaylee’s POV.

I stared at her with venom.

She got up to my level and instantly began to stutter. “I..I.. didn't..see…”

“Save it.” I said, holding my hands to shut her up. I normally shouldn't be this upset but I felt that Zeke had just stepped on my ego and it infuriated me.

I stared at her from head to toe and I couldn't help but to shake my head. This was really the woman Zeke decided to replace me with? He could have anyone else but why her? What was so special about her?

“This is my house and I want you to know that I could get Zeke back at a snap of my finger.” I boasted with confidence. Not that I wanted him back but my ego was bruised badly.

I watched her lips curved into a smile. I couldn't understand why because she looked timid and definitely not someone that could challenge me.

“Why? Are you jealous?” She asked, folding her hands under her breast.

“Me? Jealous?” I snorted, followed by a loud laughter. “Oh sweetheart, believe me, I am not jealous.” I stated. I was certainly angry but jealous was way out of the question. Zeke wasn't just worth my jealousy.

“Then why are you keeping my girlfriend here?” I heard Zeke's voice which forced me to turn towards his direction. He stood not too far from us and looked displeased.

“I was only warning her to stay in her lane.” I stated, indignantly. “Not that I care what she does but you shouldn't disrespect me because of her.” I stated firmly.

I watched as Zeke moved closer to Layla.

“Are you okay babe?” He asked, totally ignoring me. He tilted her head and kissed her lightly on the lips while his other hand roamed freely behind her back.

I clenched my fist angrily. Why the hell was I getting this pissed off?

“We were going out. Not that you need to know but…. You are still my wife I suppose.” Zeke said to me rudely.

“Are you serious? You just confessed your love to me some days back and now this?” I couldn't stop myself from saying.

“Humans make mistakes, don't they?” He asked with furrowed brows. “I was in love with the idea of you Kaylee. That has totally changed now.” He stated bluntly.

“Fine, whatever, fuck off.” I yelled angrily before storming off.

‘How dare he speak to me in that tone?’ I hissed as I ascended the stairs.

I got into my new room. It was much smaller than the master's bedroom which should be mine. All of the sudden, everything mattered. I grabbed my car keys and my handbag and rushed downstairs.

I got out of the house and entered the black colored Lamborghini parked. It was a wedding gift from Zeke.

Just as I was about to drive off, I heard my phone ring. I pulled it out of my Chanel handbag and my expression softened a bit –It was Drew, my boyfriend.

“Do you now read minds? I was just about to come to your place.” I said, turning on the car.

“My place? Is something wrong?” He probed over the phone.

“What?.. You can't be serious.” I said, sounding pissed off. “Was that not why you called? To invite me over?” I threw him a barrage of questions.

“Well, yes… I guess so.” He stammered. “I will wait for you.” He said before hanging up.

I pulled out of the driveway and drove off.

The drive from Zeke's mansion to Drew's apartment was barely thirty minutes away. I specifically asked Drew to move closer so I could continue seeing him. I couldn't bear the thought of him being an hour away or more.

I finally pulled up in front of his apartment and sauntered inside. It was nothing compared to Zeke's place but I liked it better here.

I slowly knocked on his door. I couldn't wait to have Drew's hand all over me. Maybe it would calm me down a little bit. Drew and I have been sweethearts since highschool. I was supposed to be married to him, not Zeke but he wasn't financially stable and my parents got a bigger gold to dig which was my supposed husband.

“Hey baby.” Drew said as soon as he opened the door. He pulled me in for a kiss before letting me walk into his apartment. “Just finished unpacking. Would have stayed in that hotel but I am low on cash.” He stated.

“This will do for now.” I said, looking round the room. The only pieces of furniture were his bed, a small cupboard on the side, and a sofa. I walked to the bed and sat on it with a scowl across my face.

“You don't look so good.” He said, sitting next to me.

“That bastard.” I cursed. I filled Drew in on what Zeke did and the more I spoke about it, the angrier I got. “I really think I should get my attorney to prepare the divorce papers.”

“No, no, no baby. That would be a stupid decision to make right now.” Drew said, placing his hand on mine. “We need Zeke okay? I mean, if you file a divorce right now, I am sure he could ruin you with a snap of a finger.” Drew explained calmly.

“I don't have a job yet and we need his money. Why don't you extort as much as you can before filing for a divorce?” Drew suggested.

“Didn't you hear a single word I said? He is all over Layla. How can I get him to give me money if he only looks at her?” I queried angrily.

“I don't think he has moved on just yet.” Drew said with a grin forming across his face. “Take a good look at yourself babe, you are to die for. You can easily get him under your clutches if you want to.”

I didn't know if Drew was trying to boost my ego, but it was working.
