I had no idea what had happened today. Someone had tried to hurt Amelia. Not scare her. Not warn her. Actually kill her.

The knife was still in my head. The sound of it hitting the wall where her chest had been if I hadn’t moved her. The panic in her eyes. The way she froze.

I couldn’t shake it off.
