Not long after Rubby had gone, my phone buzzed. It was her mom.

"She's home already?" I muttered before taking the call.

"Rubby," her mother cried.

I felt my heartbeat in my throat.

"Rubby, what happened to her?"

The only words I heard were hospital and accident.

"Where," I shouted. "Send me the address!"

I wasn't interested in hearing the full story. I left everything I was doing and ran out.
