"I'll go with you." Maddox is the first person to volunteer, still glaring at the prince.

"Don't fight it," the prince responds to him. "I'm not coming. I'll stay here and watch my clan." He turns to me with a small nod. "Since the guards are busy, you can go ahead and get food, but I'll send a guard with you who will direct you through the forest." He rubs his eyes and sniffs in.

"No, you don't have to." I stop him quickly. "I think I recognize this part of the forest."
