ZAC"Hey, baby. You're home." She wound her arms around me, I stiffened.

I noticed the smile dim a little bit. She was struggling to keep the smile in place.

"I made lunch, baby. Come eat." She began to usher me gently to the dining area.

For someone who'd never prepared anything for me to eat, this was a surprise. Her conscience was giving her the hit.
