Chapter 35 – Bound by Fate

VThe rain had stopped, but the tension in the air was thicker than any storm. The world felt muted — like it was holding its breath, waiting for something to break.

Lucian stood at the balcony of the old manor, his eyes fixed on the city below. The lights shimmered faintly against the dark, mirroring the turmoil inside him. “He’s still alive,” he murmured, his voice barely audible. “I can feel it.”

Nareth stepped behind him, placing a hand on his shoulder. “You always say that. But how can you be sure?”

Lucian turned, his gaze sharp and distant. “Because fate doesn’t let go that easily.”

Nareth didn’t argue. He knew Lucian’s instincts rarely failed him — and he had seen the way destiny tangled around both their lives like a cruel thread. “If Irian and Daelen are out there,” Nareth said quietly, “they’re not safe.”

---

Meanwhile, across the city, Irian woke from another nightmare — the kind where Daelen’s blood was on his hands, and the world collapsed in silence. He sat up abruptly, gasping for breath.

Daelen stirred beside him, his silver hair catching the moonlight. “You dreamt again?”

Irian nodded. “It’s not just a dream. I felt it — someone’s calling me.”

Daelen frowned. “Lucian.”

The name hung in the air, heavy and painful. They had both avoided it for months, pretending that the past was gone, that the bloodline curse no longer connected them. But lies had a way of surfacing — and tonight, it felt like the curse was alive again.

“Then we can’t hide anymore,” Daelen said, rising from the bed. “If they’re moving, so will we.”

Irian reached for his hand. “Daelen… if we go back, it won’t end well.”

Daelen squeezed his fingers tightly. “Maybe not. But it will end.”

---

Back at the manor, thunder rolled again. Lucian turned sharply, as if sensing the shift. His eyes met Nareth’s — and for the first time, a flicker of hope lit his expression.

“They’re coming,” he whispered.

Nareth drew his blade, its silver edge glowing faintly in the stormlight. “Then let them. Fate has been waiting long enough.”

And somewhere between two worlds — love and war, curse and redemption — four souls began moving toward the inevitable collision.
