Just like that, we were out of Blue moon pack, riding on a carriage that had come with Pierce. If I should guess right, then Pierce is doing this because he does not trust Brooke; hence, making this sudden and unannounced move.
I felt sick to the stomach with the carriage running so fast. “Please slow down a little,” I said, but instead of slowing down, the speed increased. I was left to fight against throwing up during the journey. I had no idea when we arrived at the entrance of Layer pack.
“Do you like riding so much, you don’t want to get down?” Pierce’s voice pierced through my ears, his hand on my neck, sent shivers down my spine. I immediately jumped, almost landing my butt on the ground. Luckily, I had great stance, so I was able to overturn the result and managed to land on my feet.
Pierce jumped down, his jaw clenched as he walked passed me. His men were hefty, in their wolf form, standing guard at the entrance. They all howled to welcome him.
I stood there a little too long for my own good, because I soon felt a push. It was the werewolf that brought us, nudging me to follow Pierce. I ran after him, walking right into the enemy’s lair, with Brooke’s order in mind – kill Alpha Pierce.
“You will be training each day at the training centre until I’m satisfied with your strength,” Pierce said. For a second, I almost believed he had forgotten about me.
“Why do I have to be strong enough to meet your taste?” I asked him.
“Because I don’t want a weakling around me,”
“And just so you know, you’re not the only one!” he said. His words hitting me like mountain rock.
“What?” I exclaimed.
“Do you think I’d just give away the position of my Luna to anyone? You’re lucky I take a particular liking to you, but that’s how far it can go!” he said, suddenly taking a stop and turning towards me.
“Martha will take over from here,” he said, leaving me to wonder who matter is, until a white haired lady walked up to me.
“Follow me!” she said. It sounded like an order, one I didn’t want to obey. But if I must complete my mission, then I might as well adjust to a few things.
I followed her into one of the halls, felt like a mere hall until she opened a door and before me stood a magnificent chamber.
“This is where you’ll be staying. The hall is where you’ll be trained from now on,” she said. She didn’t even ask for my name she just left after that.
The bed looked comfy, the bathroom was spacious enough, and everything was better than what I had at Blue moon pack. But I was not used to comfort.
Talk about privacy, the door went open and a lady walked in carrying a tray in her hand.
“Please sit,” she said. I looked in the tray and realised she had brought medicine and band-aids.
“Who sent you?” I asked her.
“Everything done within this pack, is under the Alpha’s order,” she said, if that was her way of telling me Pierce had asked her to attend to my wounds.
“I already took care of it,” I said to her. But she stood there, unwilling to leave.
“I said I already took care of it,” I said, repeating myself.
“I have to obey the Alpha,” she said to me. I wonder if that came out as a result for fear or reverence. But I doubt the latter could be possible; people say Alpha Pierce is fierce, brutal even to his own pack.
Seeing that she was unwilling to leave until she has tend to my wound, I sat down and let her examine my shoulder. She cleaned the wound before pouring a harsh substance on it, making me screech in pain. If it was just liquor, then I’d be able to bear. But this was something else.
“What the hell is that?” I asked, taking a defensive stance away from her, ready to fight at any moment.
“Liquor mixed with wolfs-bane,” the voice was familiar.
Pierce walked into the room, looking like a god in his outfit. It looked different from the one he had worn earlier. His aura felt a little bit overwhelming for someone like me who barely feels intimidated.
“Drink this!” he said, emptying a bottle into my mouth. I suddenly felt weak and numb, it was as though my body was failing me.
“What did you give me?” my voice was down, barely leaving my mouth.
“Leave!” he said. But it was to the she wolf who had come to treat my wound. She left without any protest, no hesitation. Immediately she walked out the door, Pierce placed me on the bed. Then he took the band aid and dressed my wound.
“Over here, we train with wolfs bane,” he said.
“Don’t worry, you won’t die, as long as you already swallowed the portion I gave you,” he sounded like he was certain. Wolfs bane has never been safe for us werewolves, how come he and his pack members were training with it and not dying?
I wanted to open my mouth to speak, but I felt paralysed and could not move an inch.
“So if Brooke asked you to kill me, you can try it out and see,” he said. It was the first time he showed he does not trust me, but he equally looked like he does not care. I wanted to ask him why he brought me with him if he knew that I was going to kill him, but even if I could speak, I should not let him believe that to be true.
“You look like her,” he said, his hand resting on my face.
“My dead mate!” his hand suddenly found its way to my neck and tracing down my chest. What’s he trying to do? I panicked.
