Chapter Four

PIERCE’S POV

She looked so small, so different from the girl I met earlier at Blue moon pack. She had been poisoned by the portion I gave her, but it’s the only way to combat the effect of the wolfs-bane poured into her wound. She reminds me of Lana, my mate.

The only difference between her and Lana is that, I’ll make her everything Lana was not. Lana died because she was not strong enough, so I’ll make this girl strong, so strong that the only one allowed to defeat her would be me.

I let her sleep, but did not leave the room. Instead, I laid beside her, holding her body to mine. Even though I knew she’s not Lana, I wanted this closure.

“I’ve always loved you Lana!” I muttered into her ears as if she could hear me. My hands rummaging her body as if she could feel me, but she can’t. Even if she was Lana, she would not be able to feel me – the dead cannot sense a thing.

“Alpha!”

Only Martha could be this bold, walking in on me and stopping me from doing something like this.

“What?” I hissed, knowing fully well she won’t be fazed by my mean efforts.

“I will have someone watch over her,” she said. That was her way of asking me to leave.

“I’m not done!” I replied her. But she did not budge. Instead, she stepped in closer, “I don’t mind challenging you to a duel,” she said.

Martha has always been cocky. I’ve always liked her for it, but this time, she’s the very person I could no longer stand.

“Martha!” I hissed this time, glaring at her with much hostility.

“Pierce!” she retorted.

“She is not Lana!” the moment those words left her mouth, even though it was the truth, I charged at her. She ducked to the side, and I ended up at the door. Using that opportunity, Martha pushed me outside.

“Let’s fight it out,” she said with a smirk on her lips. She charged at me with her hair, waving it at my face. Knowing fully well how dangerous her hair is, I ducked. That was the best option, avoiding Martha’s hair.

She rushed towards me and threw a punch at me, but I caught it with my hand without realising her trick on time. She flogged her hair in my face, leaving a cut on my jaw. I dragged her hair angrily and slammed her body on the floor, repeating it again and again.

“Truce!” she said, her fingers up in surrender. Immediately I pulled back and realised that we were not the only ones in the hall. The other ladies from different packs stood watching us. The commotion must have brought them out.

Out of anger, I pointed randomly at two of the ladies out of all of them, “you are both disqualified,” I said to them before walking away, hating Martha for what she did.

I went back to my mansion, breaking everything in my way. I was furious, merely disqualifying those two, or fighting it out with Martha was not enough. I gritted my teeth and went into the chamber underground.

“Lana!” I muttered as if she was there.

“I’m going to make our dream come true!” I whispered as I rummage through her things, taking each dress that belonged to her in my hand. Her whip would have looked better hanging from her waist. I let my thought linger on what she used to be like, wielding this whip, and ended up spending the entire night in the chamber with my eyes wild open.

“I’ll build for myself the strongest she-wolf to ever exist, and together, we’ll rule the world. I’ll help you fulfil our dream,” I said, my hand on the whip.

“Too bad you’re dead, and won’t be able to see this happen,” my demeanour suddenly changing as though I had finally gotten a hold of myself.

I walked out of the chamber and locked the door after me, and went back up into my chamber. Martha stood right in front of me, her expression unchanging.

“Even if you want to choose her, I hope you do that with who she really is in mind, and not seeing her as Lana,” Martha said, giving me the lecture I had no need of.

“And?” I replied.

“She is different, her wolf is different. She can never replace your mate,”

“And if you’re doing this because you regret what happened in the past, then I hope you also remember that Lana was no better person even if she was mate,” Martha’s words sounded harsh. Harsher, because this was reality.

“She loved me!” I gritted my teeth and clutched my claws against my sides.

“No one is disputing that. But you’d be dead by now if love was the only thing you needed,” she retorted.

“Do not give any one another chance to get that close to you,” she said before walking out. I could hear her making an exchange with someone right out the door. The moment the voices died down, Bolos walked in.

“I’ve done a background check on her,” Bolos said.

“What did you find?” I asked him.

“She was indeed adopted when she was 5 years old by Alpha Brooke,” Bolos said.

“Any lead on her biological family?” I asked. He shook his head.

“No one seemed to know who she was before she got adopted.” I creased my brows at Bolos’ words.

“I do not expect you to come to me with this little to no information. What am I supposed to do with this?” I asked.

“I will put in more effort,” he said. Then he turned to leave but stopped in his track.

“What?” I snapped.

“She had a mate!” that was all it took for me to lose it.

“Find him and bring him here,” I growled.

“He is a guardian at the Blue moon pack, you already promised not to hurt anyone!” Bolos immediately interceded.

I clenched my jaw, and bumped my fist into the wall as if it were the mate.

“He already rejected her!” Bolos said, probably trying to calm me down.

“Send an invitation to Alpha Brooke, make sure he is included,” I said, referring to the so called mate.

Bolos nodded and left. I walked out right after him, it’s a new day after all.

“Pierce, the girl is reacting,” Martha’s voice resonated in my head. If Martha would contact me, it means it’s a dire situation.

I immediately rushed to the hall where Grace was to find her jerking violently.
